Raider Essentials / Re: Gear Check!
« on: September 28, 2011, 08:17:04 PM »
A couple things I have to mention because I feel they are important and were brought up in this thread.

Symphony of Battle - Symphony of Battle, the clicky from Rapier of Somber Notes, has never been considered great because of it's 60% haste. It's percussion modifiable attack buff is why people love it so much. The haste is just a nice bonus.

Heroic Strength - Heroic Strength's effect on dps is minor. 10 points is 1 extra damage per melee hit. A speedfocusing monk with 2 18 delay weapons (as in, the burn situation with the most hits being applied on a single target in the game) will only see about 8-9 dps per 10 points.

Heroic Dexterity - My parses show WAY less than 1% crit rate for 25 h-dex. My parses show closer to about 185-200 h-dex for 1% crit rate for a 90 max aa monk. I have reason to believe, but cannot currently prove, this is based on your current crit rate.
** The following numbers are theoretical, not actual **
Hypothesis - If a monk's crit rate is 9% and a rogue's is 10.5% the rogue would gain more from the same 175 h-dex.

This is what I currently believe, but have had so little time at my actual computer I've had no chance to test it (I also lack another max aa melee character with tons of gear I can switch in and out to modify heroics, but I can work with what I've got)

This is not to say you should or should not focus your gear/aug's on these specific heroics as they all have multiple benefits. I just want people to realize the effects are not going to be dramatic.

Elnoche, I see you have a 38 ac aug that can go in your shield in your back and range slots. Beveled Mithril Gear Set or Hardened Steel Spur. Shield ac is uncapped ac, including that of any augs in the shield. You should always have the highest ac aug available in your shield.

Beyond that you're in pretty good shape as far as group gear is concerned. I would try to replace that vendor back slot with something else.

For raid gear upgrades, ac, h-agi, and h-dex should be main priority (not necessarily in that order) and any upgrades to things like Improved Dodge - Parry/Block and such. I'm sure some of the tanks can be a little more specific.

Charm Aug - Wanderlust Guild Loadstone
It's far from the best, but all it requires is a bunch of running around in the Serpent Spine in a quest arc. Basically, it's better than nothing, and you can work on it a little at a time and see immediate results (however minor they may be).

General Gearing - T4 Gear Overview (Re-linked from Ssark's post because I feel it's important)
Obviously any group gear that is lower than T4 should be replaced with an appropriate T4 piece over T3 or lower. The exception being the purchased gear, because it has lower heroics, which you also want to replace with any appropriate piece of dropped T4 as well.

Parse - GamParse Download Page
As Furro mentioned, parsing is for more than just DPS. The DPS parse is great for those with an inferiority complex  ::), but healing parses are not uncommon in high end raiding guilds. It allows them to see who wasn't pulling their weight. The problem is, the person being healed or the person doing the healing has to report it. Personal tanking parses let you see what the aa's and gear is really doing for you.

I gathered up a bunch of mangy rot(ting) dogs and riposte disced them.

On an unrelated note, a crazy guy in my neighborhood was arrested for digging up recently deceased dogs at the pet cemetery.

Also, does anyone have $780 I could borrow until I can get to the bank?

I had issues with my firewall awhile back. Be sure to make an exception for the patcher/eq or, failing that, flat out turn it off while patching (make sure to turn it back on later -- Note: Many virus protection programs have their own firewall as well as many routers).

Make sure that your computer has it auto set to run as administrator, not just right click and hit run as administrator. (It sounds stupid, but they have 1000 people working on 1 operating system. Something is going to get lost in conversion)

As Huevos said, make sure the files are not going into program files. It has issues with this and the default folder is in program files. (Depending on how it's installed it would be C:/Programs Files/Everquest -- Or -- C:/Program Files/Sony/Everquest )

Freelance Ramblings / My Absence
« on: December 05, 2010, 02:33:51 AM »
I would just like to take a moment to apologize for my prolonged absence from Freelance (and EQ in general) and the forums. Real life stuff took precedence.

I will be gone for awhile longer, I just wanted everyone to know Im not dead, and I haven't quit EQ altogether. When I return I will have some free time to finally update the DPS thread, which is long overdue (and I apologize for that, too). I hope to see you all in game real soon.

For shammy debuff, you can add Healing Counterbias

Though I appreciate the input, the only reason Im not adding this is because the slow does not actually stack. That's not to say whether shamans should or should not use this spell on raids, it just doesn't stack with the longer duration, same percentage AA slow.

All true DPS classes now have specific class links to reduce searching time on class forums
(I want links for everyone soon, but Im most worried about bards.. Im not subscribed so if someone knows a good thread please let me know)

EDIT: Added several things to ADPS Section and several other Class DPS Links

Slowly adding Class Specific links. If anyone knows a good one for a particular class, I would appreciate a link.

WeaknessDecrease STR by 57 (L42) to 65 (L50)

Added last night actually.

Show tonight, after that I can start researching for the next update. Will likely be adding more class specific links by the end of the weekend.

Well eventually Im going to go back and re-organize the entire thing (or close to it). For now however as long as it's readable Im hoping to pack it with more (useful) information.

For easier reference, I'd put the above information in a table and link the spells directly to Lucy.  Here's how I'd lay out what you have above:

Notes:
- Linking directly to Lucy, you avoid Allakhazams advertising trash on their main site.
- Code for the table is included further below if you choose to use it.

..................

I'd table the Debuff section also, as follows:

..................

EQ Cleric isn't going to be renewed, nor maintained apparently in the next few months.

I'd change it to the following board, which appears more active and helpful:

http://www.eqcleric.com/forums/

Thank you

I had planned on linking to all of the different spells/aa's and forgot to when I first did it and hadnt got back around to them.
I should have made it into a table to begin with. I just plain didn't think about it.

I altered the text size of each individual class because I found it hard to differentiate between the classes and the next section of the post and added bard 2.0 link back in, but otherwise left it as you posted it.

Edited in new cleric forum.

Quick time = increase the attack 908 [for me :) ], duration 3 mins, reuse 15 mins
Cacophony = stun [interrupt the spell] + dot 1800 [critical 3600], reuse 6 mins

I added Quick Time to adps section. Though I agree that Cacophony should be in here somewhere it doesn't actually belong in any of the current sections, lol. I will edit it in as soon as I figure out where to put it.

WATCH YOUR AGRO! - Dead = 0 dps.

Dead monks do 0 dps.

Unfortunately, despite doing almost 0 damage for a good portion of the fight, I made Pallorax parse when I died more than once (first at 80%) (Same one Furro made parse on). Hopefully this thread will help prevent that from ever happening again.
