Freelance Ramblings / Sorry for absence
« on: March 04, 2018, 10:47:32 PM »
Sorry for my absence Friday and Saturday nights.  We had a really nasty storm roll through New England on Friday and we lost power that afternoon.  We didn't get power back until Sunday morning.  And to answer Furro ahead of time, i know I could use my phone as a hotspot, but i needed to save the battery  ;)

See you all this week!

December 17th, 2017 Patch

- Atrebe's Vault (Raid) - The fire and stone dervishes will now wait for 10 seconds before activating their auras. Their auras will pulse half as often. The stone dervish's aura will now work correctly.

Freelance Ramblings / Out this week
« on: June 07, 2017, 09:37:57 PM »
Moved this past weekend, and cable company was supposed to be out Thursday morning to set everything up.  Now they will not be able to be out until Sunday to set everything up.  So no internet for me = no raids  >:( :'(  Looks like I'll see you all next week.

So had some thoughts on this, so figured I would put them in writing.  I am starting to think that we need to save our MAIN burns for the 3 elemental dervishes with the severity of the the flame aura and the fact that they need to all be killed in a certain amount of time.

Have we considered the idea of splitting up the DPS on the axes (having two MA's)?  They die pretty fast and if we can kill 2 at a time, we may get them all down faster without having to use our biggest burns to do so.  It is just a thought, but I think if we could save our burns for later, it will really help us get past the dervish part.

Also had a thought on positioning.  If we positioned the raid in one of the corners near the entrance to the vault, would it be possible for the MTO healers to stand just outside the room on other side of wall to heal the MT?  That may help them avoid having to move to avoid the boss aura (or get hit by it).

Just thoughts I had.

Upcoming Events & Strategy / Re: EoK - Chardok - T2 - Queen Velazul Di`zok

There was a point when I saw Queen go to 99% for a little bit, and I am pretty sure it was before the first Captains were killed.  Although I may be misremembering exactly when it happened, she did definitely go to 99% at one point.

No, not exactly.  RAID leadership makes it quite clear that they do not want input on how other guilds do events, and want to figure out events and build our strategy for ourselves.  That is part of what makes raiding enjoyable for a lot of people, working together to figure it out and building a strat together.  Raid leadership does not want to deprive or take away that experience for those raiders that desire it.  Raid leadership makes that quite clear during raids on newer events.  So this is not my opinion, but the opinion and wishes of the raid leadership.

I appreciate you jumping down my throat without knowing the facts though.  Maybe if you raided with freelance instead of rote you would have been aware of that.

We really don't care how ROTE does it, as a raid team we enjoy the challenge and fun of developing our own strategy for targets.

At least to the 55% point we got him to, this seems like a straight up DPS event while the brazier team does their thing.  I would imagine with a full turn out, this should go down tonight!

To clarify, my comment on staying in totems was no way intended to blame tanks for not moving them.  I understand the challenges tanks have in moving mobs that are being damaged/casted on.  My statement was just in general, people dying while being in the aura.  I don't feel that is the main cause of deaths either, was just putting that in the list.  Last night seemed to be highlighted by emote failures more than anything.  I am not sure if there are issues with the trig itself, confusion on course of action when trig goes off, or what, but it does seem there is A LOT of failures leading to a lot of deaths.  I do know that a couple of months back, there was a change in the emote text where a comma was removed.  Not sure if everyone has their trigs updated to reflect that change.

Also, may be worth removing the audio portion of the totem aura trig.  If I am in a totem aura, I get spammed by constant audio for it (even after I move out of it, it will continue to go off for a couple of seconds.)  Wonder if that is drowning out the audio for the run away trig for some people and are just not hearing it.

I do agree that we are getting better as Gima and others have stated, but there are some things we need to improve on to smooth it out, and certainly if want to get the achievement.  Fewer deaths can certainly be on the list of things we need to improve on.  I am sure there are other areas as well....

The thing that kills dps more than anything......Rez Effects!  Too many dps are dying to a number of different things.  Emote fails, dying to adds, staying in totem auras, etc.  I know I die on average 3 times (if not more) during this event usually to add agro or to an emote fail.  So there is a really good chunk of time during this event that I (and a lot of dps) are spending with rez effects on which renders us fairly useless during that time period.  We need to figure out how to stay alive more!

Seemed last night we had a lot of Bokon up during the latter stages which made it hard for dps to dps.  Found this video, not sure if can see anything from it.  Video shows both decay raids, but during the damsel raid, it seems to highlight the guy that is dealing with the Bokon.  Again, not sure if this is what we are doing, or if can get anything from the video, just figured out would post it due to it seeming to focus on that, and that it seems successful

Last night we tried dpsing Decay first then Wither.  It appeared we got both to 50% initially MUCH faster.  Can help us in getting event done prior to timer elapsing.
