Raider Essentials / Blink + Invis Macro
« on: July 15, 2012, 02:58:14 PM »
This is one I made out of frustration that blink type AA abilities strip invisibility. Then I've found many uses for it to help me get out of some situations and get past some SI mobs.

/alt activate 1011
/pause 1
/potionbelt activate 2

The coloured text is subjective to your AA ability number 1011 is the Monk Blink number and the potion belt number of your Cloudy Potions.
There is still a chance of picking up agro before the invis sets in so aim for a less populated area.

Very fair and up to date list, perhaps a quick breakdown of totals to spend for each new ability would be bonus but not
critical to your guide.

If I were to suggest any changes it would be the extended burn disciplines imo are not higher priority over sinister strikes and other raw melee dmg modifiers. I have always believed in more consistent dmg vs. spike dmg.

When asked about starting monk AA's I always say FD are most important, because if you can't keep a steady flow of mobs coming to the group dps is wasted anyway. Hell the majority of group mobs I kill I am only present for 50%-70% of the mobs hps anyway before going out to get another.

I suppose everyone could just log off and nap during those hours then because I know some people are losing sleep over it  ;).
Unless of course instead of turning the xp off they could increase raid XP 1000%, then you'd have to beat boxes back with a stick... or a conch in our case~

I used to live in TO, now im out in Belleville. I have thought about doing this and I also have a wedding to plan... wonder if something like that could be arranged? Would help keep the numbers down thats for sure!
Then again I think about doing lots of things, then find myself playing EQ :D

Furro said - "Purity Totems & Your Positioning:

[ch9702] There are four green pads in the cubbies of the room.  It is on these green pads that the purity stones appear.
[ch9702]Position yourself so you can see three of these pads.  The immediate left and right of port in work well.
[ch9702]Make sure the large stone in the center of the room is not blocking your view of a green pad.
[ch9702]When you can see three, and you get the emote trigger, quickly scan your field of view to see if the totem is in one of three spots.  You should not need to rotate your character.
[ch9702]If it is in one of the three spots, run immediately to it.  If it's not in the three you can see, it must be in the one you can't.  Know where that is, and spin-run to it.
[ch9702]Don't finish your spellcast.  Don't polish your nails.  Don't finish the pie.  Move it.  You have a serious DoT on you that could even kill you before you reach the pad.
[ch9702]There is a fail emote.  This means when you fail, we all know you did.  Move it."

This is a solid tactic but IF you are like me and pretty much only ever play in first person, you can easily (maybe not as a tank) run around the room in 12 seconds to find the totem. Start at one spot and just go along the wall in a circle 'till you find it.

*edit ALSO: People missing Window emotes should practice at a local highrise.

I have an idea or two to float on...
Spreading out is it really important? If blobs are the only reason to spread out we may be better off just reacting to the them because with everyone spread so far out they may be missing out on group splash heals and cures.
During purple robe the only thing melee should be focused on is not spawning blobs on the main tank.
During IDs what if Monks target via ETW and use Moving Moutains (SKs can use Hate's Attraction)to bring them into the melee fight, bam no more guess work and everyone should now be in melee range to click between avatar and IDs without skipping a beat.

I was on cart duty lastnight and it went fairly well (could have been tighter) but I did have trouble with 2 things.

The first was wasted shards, on 2 occasions standing on the cart and clicking the shard nothing happened, it would poof instantly. It was either too soon after Ssark clicked their shard or I clicked it too soon after me jumping on the cart. Either way every time the shard worked I knew it because after clicking it there would be a delay of about 2 seconds before the shard poofed and then the cart would advance.

The other thing I was a bit unclear of is passing shards, I'm sure as long as one looter knows how to do this is itsn't a big issue but I couldn't figure it out withthe brief explination I was given. I am still confused as to what was really going on, was it a trade to pass them using hotkeys or is it a new mechanic I am unaware of that I can just sort of put them in the inventory of the douser?

Suits: The Freeze (snare) ability is on a (5-10?) second refresh.
The Shock ability is much faster reuse (2-5?) second refresh.
I can only assume that the abilities have roughly the same amount of agro, if this is true then only 1 suit should be snaring to hold agro while also spamming the shock while the other 3 spam shock and staying just oor.

Suits cannot get hit. 1 attack = 1 dead suit
Expect that the mob will agro you at any moment because there was little to gurantee a single kiter with the 2 skills given. That being said try not to nuke while the mob is close or running close try to stay on opposite sides of the room. Perhaps 60 seconds of kiter agro only will help?

If we have adds to kill would it be better to only have one suit activly kiting and nuking until the adds are dead? This would be to reduce the chance of suits getting dead while raid is busy.

Wasn't paying attention but did anyone try to take on buffs while shrouded? Not likely but anything that could give us more time in te suits would be a huge advantage.

Can't we just trick the boss into thinking DV is a suit of armor and let him kite for 10 min? :D

No worries my furry footed friend, I am fodder for the Furro cannon when I raid with you. I would gladly try again... I never said I can't do it, just that I haven't figured it out yet.

Time to grind some xp though  :D

Not sure why we just didn't make DV solo the adds but to address some of the things I experienced last night...

As a puller I couldn't peel agro off of npcs to bring them back to the raid. That being said I forgot to try vigorous shuriken which is a higher dmg ranged attack. I would throw 3-4 darts and click moving mountains (monk HA without the hate) and the mobs would still run away. My only chance was to run up and smack them with Veil walker's synergy kicks  and then I'd have to dry tank it till I put some distance between me and the mob at which point I would pick up an aura dot or two.
I was able to see the auras and had GTT going but with the dots the mobs and auras I felt a little out matched.
Not sure if any other monks have pulled this but if Vigorous Shuriken doesn't work I think we are SOL as pullers for this event. SKs have a clear advantage imo.

Ssark "Now the real question is, what is the DPS increase, and is it worth it?  I haven't parsed to find out... yet.

Ss"

That's a really good question because I click it often when it's already on eating up some valuable endurance. Would be terrible if it was just a couple dps.

Also one of the best times I can find to click my BP proc click is during speed focus. BP clicks are on a 2min or 20 procs which ever comes first, so getting the 20 procs off is important to squeeze every point of dmg out possible.
If you click it on a normal burn set you are less likely to get all 20 procs off. The tip should increase your dps by .00001% enjoy (% may be  is made up).

Edit:Turns out it's very unlikely that you will not get your 20 procs off with haste of any kind, I thought the timer was 1 min but its 2. So use it as often as possible on fights that last 2 min or more to get the most out of it.

Not sure if it makes a difference or not but if you use Drunken Monkey before using other disciplines you will be able to further boost your flying kick in the first 10 seconds of it before it switches to another boost effect.
So sometimes I will use my high dmg crane stance right near the start (after 10% or so)fade then proceed with other combos on burn to take advantage of the fresh Monkey. If I remember I'll even click iron fists off after crane stance just to save endurance.
