Freelance Ramblings / Station Cash UI Button
« on: June 29, 2011, 04:56:35 PM »

They added a SC button onto the EQ button in the UI.  If you don't like this feature, you can remove it by modding it out.

IF you don't have a version of EQUI_EQMainWnd.xml in your custom UI folder then copy it from ./default directory, to your custom directory.

Then edit the file and all you need to do is change the size of the new SC button to zero so it's not shown.

Save the file, reload your UI in options to confirm it worked, and/or log to character select and back in.

I added comments: <!-- CHANGE TO 0 --> to the lines where altering is necessary.

Freelance Ramblings / Re: Raid Schedule Review
« on: June 27, 2011, 05:22:37 PM »

Friday and Saturday do appear to still be our higher turnout nights, and that's reflective of the polling here.  Although Thursday is a close tie with Sunday in the poll, it's too close to make a decision on which days would pan out the best for us currently.  In addition, the numbers obviously don't reflect our actual turnouts, as not everyone has voted.  The purpose still remains to get an idea of the general raiding days that work best to see if we're on the right track for scheduling raid nights.

For now, let's stick with Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

On Thursdays, we can take requests for raid targets, or devote time to grouping efforts if we're below minimum on numbers for a raid.  Either way, there are targets available to us, even some UF targets that we can hit with low numbers (Fippy/Masked Invaders), and hitting those on slower nights does leave a bigger window for WIP events on Friday/Saturday when we're sporting a higher turnout.

Friday & Saturdays: Higher turnouts usually, and this is when we usually do our push on new events and/or targets that demand higher numbers.

Thanks again for voting!

I noticed alot more votes cast in the last couple days.  I'm keeping the poll open for a little longer to ensure everyone has had a chance to vote.

In the meantime, I tentatively scheduled our normal days for this upcoming week.

Well due to my current schedule   Thursdays are probably my more consistent day.   Weekends are sometimes good sometimes bad depending on  what  real life event happens.

On the weekend front, you're not alone there.  I believe everyone understands RL commitments take priority.  As always, we appreciate your active attendance on our raids, as well as your contribution to the team.  Thanks for your feedback and taking the time to vote.

My problem is my work schedual doesnt allow me to stay up too late, and usually the raids dont get done until around 10pm my time and I have to get up as 3am. The best I can do is make it for the first encounter.

I understand completely where you're coming from here Axum.  We greatly appreciate when you're able to make our raids, and the contribution to the team as a result.   Thanks again for making your voice heard by voting and replying here.

OK .. putting feedback here .. i did send a pm to furro but then read what he wrote again and saw he was allowing feedback .. i voted for our current days becuase they do work best with my strange schedule and also becuase COP normaly holds raids on sunday and monday ..

as far as times go the times already work for me they are same times as cop raids and i think are a good time slot.

I always welcome feedback (and pie!).

Each individual that attends our raids has a voice regardless of their guild association.  Therefore, ALL days must be available as an option in the poll, and our raid nights determined based on the results of democratic voting.

Freelance Ramblings / Raid Schedule Review
« on: June 12, 2011, 05:37:45 PM »

Everyone once in a while, we have to review our current raiding schedule.  As many of you know, factors both in game and in real life (holidays, seasons etc), affect our turnout.  Overall, our attendance ebbs and flows with the times.  As such, just as we have in the past, we have to adapt our schedule based on what works for the masses.

What I need from everyone is to reflect on your play schedule and availability.  Honestly answer the poll as to which days you are available to attend Freelance raids.

This poll is for DAYS.  If you feel we need to adjust our start times, reply to this thread.  Based on feedback, I'll put up another poll for TIMES.

Feel free to reply also to this thread with your thoughts regarding our raid schedule or anything else you feel can contribute to increasing our attendance, or improve Freelance raids in general.  I'm always open to suggestions and constructive criticism.  You can't offend me, so no worries, I don't take any comments personally.

PS:  Yes, you have to register on the forums to vote in the poll.  It's not a big deal to register and takes 1 minute.  So if you're serious about raiding with Freelance, take the moment and register and vote.  It's up to you.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Verisign was added to the EQUI_Animations.xml file.  For those using a custom Animations file, I've added the code below for reference:

Addition: EQUI_Animations.xml, just before the <!-- Achievement Overlays --> section, line: 1201

Addition: EQUI_Animations.xml, end of file, just before </XML>, line: 20260
Code: [Select]
<Ui2DAnimation item="A_VerisignSeal">

Hi Donora!

Thanks for your interest in Freelance raids, and for attending on Friday.

Obviously you have some concerns and possibly misunderstandings as to our DKP system.  I appreciate your post, and I'll do my best below to address each of your points.

Quote

...

We all rush to our destination and begin preparations to start pulling mobs. However, just as we're starting to pull mobs, the Raid leader says that we each need to go over loot rules and DKP on their website.....

I'm not sure how I am suppose to read this website, plus deal with the raid instructions at the same time.

For a newcomer, there are two ways to find out our loot rules.  Both methods are covered in /raidsay just prior to the raid instructions.  I suspect that you missed the "short version" method given at the time.  The reason the shorter version is available is to avoid having to read the website during raid instructions.

As a reference, for an in game "short version" of our loot rules, do the following: /tell FLBot loot rules.

The reason these methods are given at the time, is to provide access to the necessary information that leads to full disclosure of our loot system.  This is to help ensure there are no misunderstandings at the time of item distribution.

Quote
I later realized that it seemed to a shame anyway. When you see the listing for yesterdays raid, you'll notice all the names on there have high amounts of DKP saved up, so it is near impossible for a new person they pickup in POK, although they announce as a pickup raid in POK, to gain any amount of DKP,when they pickup random people in POK.

What you need to do is sort the listing by "Last Raid" column on the right hand side, from most recent to oldest.  Scan the first 100+ members, and you'll see a WIDE range of DKP holdings.  When you sort by highest DKP, you get an inaccurate view of the system, because it picks up inactive members and their DKP.

I recommend also clicking on "Item History", and view what the prices items are actually going for.  Most of those 10's you see are the results of /random winners.  All the others above 10 DKP are bids via the DKP state, and you'll notice they're not over the top bids.

Earning DKP is very quick within this system.  With items going fairly cheap, it's entirely possible (and happens), that newcomers bid and win on items for only 20-30 DKP.  Earning that amount of DKP can be done in 2-3 nights, sometimes less since the earnings fluctuate based on spending.

Quote
A pickup raid should be fair to those who can't raid with your main core every day. Random loot to those who need has always been the fair way to do things.

You're more than welcome to start your own guild and use whatever DkP system you want.

Just to be clear, the system works in TWO states.  For every target/event, there's a chance the loot contents will be distributed via /random 1000, or DKP.  The chance is a 70/30 split, based on a /random roll done at the time of distribution.

The "Random" aspect is in play within the system for the very purpose of providing a "fair" method for those who are either new and/or unable to attend regularly.

On Friday, you just happened to attend a raid that landed DKP.  The funny thing is, and a running joke, is that I'm terrible luck as a /randomer, as a result often land /random state!  :)

To address your other comment about starting a guild and using whatever system I want.  That's all fine, but the point is, this is an Open Raid system, and as such it includes both Random 1000 and DKP for loot distribution with fairness in mind.

Quote
When I look at your DKP listing now, I still do not see my name on the list. Am I to guess that is because I have not raiding with this group long enough to deserve points? That should does sound like guild rules to me, and not freelance raiding.

I do DKP/Loot entries the next day.  This is why your name hasn't yet appeared in the system.  It has nothing to do with the reasons you alluded to above.  The fact is, DKP takes me 45 mins to 1.5 hours to do for each night we raid.  So clearly I can't do this up at the time of the raid, nor after due to the late hour.

My only suggestion here is, please wait and your name will appear the next day at some point when the raids have been entered.

Quote
I had heard you guys were honorable, but my first impression was anything such.

As important as first impressions are, I hope that I've answered your concerns within this post to your satisfaction.

Thanks agains for your interest in our raids.  You're welcome to attend future events.  As always, questions and comments are appreciated.

Take care, and I hope to see you in game!

Those add waves intervals look similiar to the ones Xab pulled from Alla.  So we're in the ballpark at least, which is helpful.

Thanks Kreil!

Thanks.  Those are player approximations probably.  But helpeful regardless.  I was able to confirm in the logs the 2:15 for 2nd wave so far.  I added the times to the related UB Strategy post in the public section.

Knowing the spawn times helps us CC/prepare for the next wave as you know.  As we do the event more, we can confirm the rest of the intervals.

Thanks for posting Xab, see you in game.
