I am on my way to doing answers for the 2.5 pages.  But this is only because I thought "Bumkus the Beloved" had a nice ring to it.  A very Ogrely title in my opinion.

Hehe.  Pick any title you want, regardless of the loot outcome.  You're wearing the title, that's all that matters.

Hello from Zek Server. My guild recently got into demi and we seem to be stuck on the sisters event. Can someone give me a decent strat?

If you can be more specific what aspect of the event you're stuck on, we may be able to give some hints without ruining the fun of figuring it all out. : )

Due to the patch on 17Apr Demiplane is opened to all lvl 72 or higher to zone in.Is it mean those ppl will not have to do the 5 blood raids and probably loot item in DP? Anyone know please feel free to post back.

Thanks

Yes, it will only be based on level 72 to enter and nothing else.  That means no blood raids and no Monocle of Blood required.

I agree to ENTER DP is level only, but to loot, you need the completed flag.

I read the post on Sony's site to read as you need to complete the flagging quests to gain the "benefit" of the flag...  ie - Loot rights.  You can bypass the flag and gain entrance into the zone by level but you gain no "benefit" of having the flag.

I highly doubt that if you havent completed the full flag that u can loot.  Same thing as in Demiplane and Deathknell.

I must have missed that post on the forums.  I'm pretty disgusted by the entire removal of all these flags and such, maybe that's why I overlooked the backflag part.  Pains me to go back and filter through the threads again to find the post.  Maybe it'll be quoted as people try out the zones and stuff.

Got a bunch of them here.  Check them out.  Somehow Furro seems to get his mug in all the kill shots I take.  I think he follows me around when a mob is at 2%.  The front page pic is the one I like the most.  That one isnt found here.

Coincidence I say! : P

or.. payback for all those snubbed ss's prior!

Freelance Ramblings / Re: What you should do on raid(Please Read)

Dear all,

FL raid group is currently heading to Demiplane. So we will need to pay more attention and concentrate during the raid.I would like to share my point of view on setup a raid force here.

1.) Furro leads us really good and guess he will handle about HEALER assignment.I will suggest to set a channel to show the CCH msg like /auction or /shout since there is not useful channel while we raiding. For example

Furro auctions: 1) Complete Healing to >> MT << pause 15 --- XXX NEXT.
XXX auctions: 2) Complete healing to >> MT << pause 15 --- YYY NEXT.
YYY auctions: 3) Complete Healing to >> MT << pause 15 --- ZZZ NEXT.
ZZZ auctions: 4) Complete Healing to >> MT << pause 15 --- Furro NEXT.

Its may help on all other DRU/SHM about heal frequency and rdy to patch to keep MT alive.
More details - ALWAYS KEEP DI on MT when its called, try to do it if mana/time permit to cast.

Using /aution or /shout can work for sure.  The nice thing about using them over /say is that there's no range limit and most people have these 2 channels already set as a different color by default so it's easier to see.  I wouldn't use it in open zones, but anything instanced I can see it doable.

Definately something I'll consider implementing.

2.)About tanks class mean SK/Pally/WAR should know each other on HP/AC <UNBUFF> , I will suggestion to show up with unbuff stats. Its easy to count on buffed stats. Also we all sit in a seperate channel, for example FLtanks. That is very important I think. We can discuss in channel and assign tank on next target or setup the tanks rotation. At this point we will reduce the job load from Furro also.

I usually ask what the tanks hps are buffed at the time.  I only do this because we don't always have a druid to do the raid combo on buffs and deal with Tem instead.  Plus it's one less thing I have to calculate on if they just give me current stats / ac.

In the past I stayed away from separating into sub channels because of the targets we were doing didn't really require it.  However, now that we're getting into more complicated scripts these channels will have to come into play.

I agree here and FLTanks channel as a name seems to work fine.

The benefits of this channel are obvious with regard to setting up tanks for the next boss, MT order and discussion on tank positioning etc.

I like to give every tank on the raid a chance, and that's why I change MT's on each boss.  Sometimes on difficult fights I'll use our best tank there.  But I want up and coming tanks to learn and be able to prove themselves.  There's no better way to teach someone then by putting them in the role and having them experience it.   A FLTank channel can be a help here also for any tank related questions.

3.) All other class in raid:
For caster class - NEC/SHM/WIZ , DoT and Nuke is always get instant agro and summon, try to keep yourself to soft nuke and not full DoT,we will need your DPS on last 25% on boss.

For Knights - SK/PAL , there may have adds during fight and you will be the tank on those trash/adds.Some of fight will summon adds and those are mezzable.Pick all target as fast as possible and offtank till your target is mezzed.Offtank mean no dmg tank with agro(cast no dmg agro spell).Even its mezzed, please always keep agro on those mezzed mobs to save mezzer's life. Also, if your target is already tanked by another knights, try to find another mob to offtank.

For DRU/SHM/PAL , you will be backup healer to keep Knights and your group alive.RC and Heal is needed.

For other class unlisted above , SET a MA to call assist is the most important. DPS/casters will only assist your MA to attack or cast.

Not much here needs to be said other than we have had the odd occasion when someone has taken agro from another MT.  But overall I think we're doing good in this regard.

Good advice in general of course and doesn't hurt to keep it in mind.

4.)During the fight,Try your best to REZ/Call of the Wild when someone is down to keep our raid force.Buff them up quickly and the best way is by /tell to get buff.Dont try to spam in channel or group.Sometimes buffer will miss it also.

Here is some of my experience with my raid team and I hope to share to you all.You may ignore this post if you know your class well. Please free feel to share your view and FL will become stronger and stronger by your suggestion.

Battle rezing can work sometimes, but it all depends of course on the encounter.  Often what happens is people get rez'ed into an AE or something.   It's all situational.

I agree, when you're freshly rez'ed, asking for buffs in the channel just results in many people overlapping the person with the same buffs and wastes mana.  Ideally I try and stress for people to send tells for buffs, and I only say don't send me tells for buffs because I'm usually too busy to do singles.

Buffing during a fight isn't usually possible.

Overall, good advice.   Thanks for your insight Arthursuen.

Freelance Ramblings / Re: A question about DP flag drops
« on: January 07, 2008, 12:26:04 AM »

What are the plans FL has as far as DP flag drops?  What I mean is how will they be awarded/handed out?  My assumption would be /ran 1k as that's been Furro's policy on everything thus far.  I suggest a change in policy for these.  To my knowledge there are 2 flag drops in DP 1 of which will be far out of reach for us at the time we begin raiding here (correct me if i'm wrong).  So to me that sounds like we may get 1 per raid if we're lucky.

Call me crazy but I think doing Sendaii every weekend to keep freelance in DP is a huge waste of time.  That event takes all night it seems and so far FL is shooting about 15%-20% on that event.  If it were fun it might be acceptable.   ;D

Lets not waste DP flags on players who don't show up to raids frequently.  That would be a tremendous waste of our time.  Sure we'll still need to keep doing blood raids anyway I have a feeling but we can at least keep them to a minimum.  The time investment vs. the reward on those is really bad.  You could do 3 random raids in TSS/PoR/DoD or clear CoA in the time it takes to do Sendaii practically.  Or just have the night off to do other things.

My reasons behind sticking to /random 1k is that it's just the fairest possible way we can distribute loot in an open raid system.  The moment we start implementing a special case ruleset for certain zones that favours regulars, we will have crossed over to a completely different raiding force.  It also has the potential to rift regulars against those who can't show up weekly.  This is something I want to avoid; I want us to work together and treat each other equally and offer a fair chance at rewards to all.

Quote

Is DP like CoA in the fact that you cannot loot anything else till you have that flag?  If so that really blows because people who arent flagged wouldn't have much incentive to go to DP then if what i'm suggesting is applied.  Unless they show up more often than not.

In short, yes.  Just as with CoA, you can't loot anything in DP until you have your flag done.  The incentive for those people without flags to attend is their chance to win a backflag piece.

Like CoA, you can't just loot the backflag seal and you're done.  With CoA you needed Sigs to be able to zone in.  With DP, you have to have your Monocle of Blood done in order to zone in.

So a brief overview of the flags are:

Monocle of Blood and Blood Raids = Full Demiplane flag.

Monocle of Blood and Looted Backflag = Full Demiplane flag.

Monocle of Blood  = Access to zone, without rights to loot anything.

I pulled that from my writeup of DP flagging off the main page here.

Quote

I'm not saying all this out of some self serving reasoning.  Not directly at least.  IE I plan on being flagged through blood raids prior.  I just don't want to see FL trapped in the early stages of DP because of flagging issues.  I'm not against anyone or the idea of open/casual raiding.   I know the /ran 1k rule is what brings in a lot of people and FL wouldn't have made it this far with some complex loot system.  I just think this is one of those rare situations that sticking to the /ran 1k everything rule will really burn us and not help FL at all.

I understand and respect your opinion Breniar.  Blood raids and DP in general are known guild killers.  We as a raiding group are susceptible in the same way as guilds are in this regard when pursuing progression goals.  However, I'm very optimistic and I look at these difficult progression arcs and see them as a challenge.  They are designed to weed out the weak, and I have no issue with that.  We will always help those who show up and dedicate their time in a collective effort to help progress their characters and others.

Sticking to the /random 1k system here isn't what will burn us.  What can burn us is those who now have their flags done and decide to not show up for the next round of blood raids.  We have a really good group of regulars and I can only hope that recent newcomers to these blood raids decide to come on board and help others who have helped them.

I will never pressure anyone to raid with us.  The best I can do is rally others in a positive way and for them to encourage their friends and guildmates to do the same; as we work towards our progression goals.

The below list will drop the flag piece.

Demiplane Tier 1: Hatchet the Torturer
Demiplane Tier 1: Redfang
Demiplane Tier 2: Devlin Rochester
Demiplane Tier 2: Roley and Adrianna
Demiplane Tier 2: The Performer
Demiplane Tier 2: Tris Wallow III

That list looks correct.  I'm basing it on Alla also and confirmed some with Chekakoch.

Freelance Ramblings / West Bug Workaround
« on: November 06, 2007, 08:39:29 PM »
Although I've never had the west bug, I know during our raids many people are constantly logging off and on because of it.

A player by the name of Strommmm came up with something that seems to eliminate the west bug for a majority of players:

At HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Direct3D create a DWORD key named DisableD3DXPSGP and set the value to 1. If you want to disable it you can either set the key to 0 or delete it.

For those that don't know how to edit your registry you can download and run a registry script. The Fix.reg file will enable the fix and the UnFix.reg file will disable it.

After the fix is applied you must restart EQ for the changes to take effect.

NOTE: The fix may not work for everyone or it may not work at all. You may also notice a slight decrease in performance in any program that uses DirectX.
