I noticed the Dagger of Reprisal, too.  There's a chance for Tita to cast it anytime you cast a spell on her.  She doesn't always cast it, and it doesn't always land. You will see this text when she casts: "Praetor Captain Tita Aragus instinctively responds to your magical attack by throwing a dagger at you."  If it lands, it does 8191 damage per tick for 30 seconds.  Most ranger nukes are on 30-second timers, so I would throw my whole set and then cure the DoT.

Our last attempt, when we burned down all the sergeants first, worked out best.  I still had time left on my Bullseye after Grady was dead, and the first Auspice had run out, so I figured that it would be good to throw my Auspice while everyone still had burn disciplines running.  The second and third sergeants went down quickly enough after that (there may have been a third Auspice, too).  Have we figured out whether the adds are time-based or percentage-based?  That might give us a better idea whether to keep burning sergeants or save something for the Captain.

The actual simple solution if loot is rotting is to stop doing those raids.

Yes, you solution on it's face makes sense. The issue is the complexity. Some items in T4 are still best in the game and no upgrades in cotf yet. Also some items like burden of truth are still best in game. Making the cost all the same is the simplest solution.

Good point about the complexity, Huevos.  Here's a simpler solution: put the minimum cost back to 10 for bidding or rolling on all items, and put FFA cost back to 0.  I don't understand why the cost was changed in the first place.  Furro didn't explain his reasoning as far as I know.  He just announced the change.  If the reason was to speed up bidding, it doesn't make much of a difference.  The bids for good items zoom above 50 quickly enough.  if it was to encourage people to spend more DKP, it doesn't help there, either.  Some people spend DKP as fast as they earn it, and will continue to do so.  Those who have 1200 DKP because they won't spend 10 for an item certainly won't spend 50.

Freelance Ramblings / DKP cost suggestion
« on: January 17, 2014, 11:39:33 PM »
As most of you know, the recent change in the minimum DKP cost for items from 10 to 50 had a side effect: many items that might have earned bids of 10 or 20, or been rolled on, went to FFA.  This is because many older items are simply not worth 50 DKP.  Last night's change that made FFA items cost 50 DKP was an attempt to remedy this effect, but not the root cause.  Now, items that might have been looted FFA will rot, because they're still not worth 50 DKP.  Rotting loot does not benefit anyone.  It doesn't increase the power of the raid force, nor does it earn DKP for raiders.  I believe the initial change to raise the minimum to 50 DKP was to speed up bidding.  This is fine, but if you don't like the side effects, let's fix the root cause.  I propose that tier 3 RoF loot have a minimum cost of 10 DKP, tier 4 RoF have a minimum of 20, and tier 1 CotF loot have a minimum of 50.  As newer content comes out, these values will be adjusted, just like we currently do when shifting older content from the DKP loot method to the random loot method.  This will speed up bidding while still allowing a fair value for older items.

Eradicate Disease has two slots of "Decrease Disease Counter by 30", so that's 60 counters in one cast of the spell.  Two casts and the DoT is gone.  The spell is available to the following classes: CLR/58 PAL/71 RNG/76 DRU/58 SHM/52 NEC/66 BST/66.

Freelance Ramblings / Threshold minis

Will tonight be the only time we do the Threshold mini bosses?  I hope not, because I'd really like to complete HoF and  get a new title, but I'll take a wife faction hit if I raid tonight.  We have more than 54 regular raiders, so we should do these events 3 or 4 times to make sure everyone gets a shot at them.

Can we assign someone to loot the trash corpses?  Normally, that would make them disappear.

I think everyone is getting the same trigger for Crescent Reach, regardless of whether they said yes or no.  I said no, and got "All Iksar, Vah Shir, Humans, Trolls, Ogres, Guktan, Halflings, Barbarians, Drakkin and Dark Elves OUT, and ANYONE from Crescent Reach OUT".  That's not right for an elf from Faydwer.

Please do not take my previous post as advocating that we skip Sep 1-3 from now on.  I was just curious if we could.  I suggest that we keep doing Sep 1-4 for at least a few more weeks, even if we beat Sep 5.  There are rings with Ancestral Memories III clickies that are available for 200 Bronze Fiats.  16% overhaste is a nice DPS boost that never gets old.  AM III has been around since Seeds of Destruction, yet Sony has not introduced AM IV, so I think these rings will be good for awhile.  I think Borean has been on most of the successful Sep events, and he has 120 Bronze Fiats.  2 or 3 more clears could get them for most of the regular raiders.

Since Sep 4/5 is a separate instance, do we need to take down Sep 1-3 every week, or can we go straight to Sep 4 now that we've beaten the others at least once?

Freelance Ramblings / Re: 90 Alaran for raids

What's the point of requiring 90 Alaran for raids that don't need it?  Why not treat language skill like book requirements (or keys for HoT raids)?  Make it specific to the raids that need it.

It's not a stealth nerf.  It was in the patch message.  It was extremely useful (or overpowered, depending on your point of view) the old way.

Which raids require 90 Alaran?  What happens if you don't have it?  Do you note see the emotes at all, or do you just get somewhat garbled versions that won't get picked up by GTT and other audio trigger tools?

Which trigger is supposed to use "infected-run-away.wav"?  I don't see that file on any of them.
