Brief Event Overview

Proper footwear required in Tower of Frozen Shadow due to large amount of ice on floor.  Safety first.

Event is triggered.  No trash to clear.  20 minute timer.

Event area takes place on first level of Tower of Frozen Shadow.  The zone-in area counts as event area.  The boss; Heart of the Frozen Shadow, is located in middle area hovering over the pit.  The surrounding rooms are also part of the event area.

When event is triggered Heart of Frozen Shadow does not attack and is immune from conventional forms of damage.

Adds begin to spawn throughout event area.

Killing restless adds cracks shield on boss and HP drops.

Killing non-restless adds reforms shield on boss.  Examples: a shadow beast, a Shadowbone.

Non-restless non-shades automatically despawn after a period of time, but must be engaged in some form to prevent idle mechanic from occurring.

If a room add is pulled to middle area it DT's target player (Icy Touch of Death).

A certain number of players must remain in middle event area.  Emote warns when too few and boss casts 100k AE + Knockback (Tendrils of Restless Ice).

When boss reaches 10% it unlocks and can be damaged by conventional means.


Restless Chill:

Restless Chill DoT lands on players during event starting at 1st rank and ramps up to 8th rank.

RC ranks ramp up the longer a player hangs out in middle area.

Moving to one of the rooms reduces RC ranks.  Moving to a room and waiting, appeared to drop a rank every 10 seconds.



Strategy

Multiple MA calls for assist to kill restless adds.  MA calls include their assigned group numbers.  Calls are also done in special group channels for those who prefer to isolate the chat.

Rooms are labeled by cardinal and number.  Example: SE 1, stands for room 1 located South East.  Map section of post contains the files.

Tanks assigned to each room.  When add spawns, tank notifies in /raidsay add they are tanking and ROOM LOCATION AND NUMBER.

Two designated Raid Mark NPC players assigned to set Raid Mark 1 for restless shade in middle.  Subsequent Raid Mark 2 and 3 are additional targets for players in middle to DoT.

Pet Classes: Sick your pet on the Shade that appears in ETW under "Raid Mark NPC 1".  Be sure to set your ETW up for raid mark during prep if not already.


Restless Chill:

We assign two main groups of players by group number.  Each grouping has their own MA and channel.

Upon event engage designated groups start in MIDDLE (center) of main room.  Remaining assigned groups follow their MA for ROOMs (sometimes hallways).

Our coordinator announces in /raidsay when to SWITCH from MIDDLE to ROOMS.  When this happens, ALL the players assigned swap areas accordingly.

Coordinator call examples in raidsay:

SWITCH group -[ 6-9  to ROOMS 3-5 to CENTER ]- ALL (+announce/v)

Few minutes later, another SWITCH call, note the swapping of locations:

SWITCH group -[ 6-9  to CENTER 3-5 to ROOMS ]- ALL (+announce/v)


Important:

React when called on to SWITCH!  This is not an event you can just decide when you want to switch areas.

When in MIDDLE AREA - STAY OFF THE WALLS!   Walls do not count as being in middle and we fail the RC mechanic resulting in a penalty.

Do not use the zone-line to hang out.  That area does not drop your Restless Chill ranks, only the rooms do.



Tanks

- Restless can be stunned, to help mitigate damage
- Non-restless, tanks KITE around room until despawns, or as a Paladin may get away with chain stuns and OT/Heal self until it despawns
- Non-restless Shadow is NOT snareable

Tanks - Room Assigns - Format hotkeys for Raidsay and FLRaids to conform to the following pattern:

[ ROOM LOCATION # ] - SPAWN|TANKING - %T

Tank Notes:
- For hotkey above, where SPAWN or TANKING is your choice or situational
-- Some tanks prefer two hotkeys depending on situation, only one "TANKING" is required though
-- Don't use both words (SPAWN|TANKING) in the same line
-- Don't use pipe (|) character, it is only used above to indicate an option of either SPAWN or TANKING
-- Spaces before/after square brackets optional (two examples provided below)

Examples:
[Fri Sep 04 22:53:00 2020] Raiena tells the raid, '[SE2] - SPAWN - a restless shadowbone'
[Fri Sep 04 22:47:02 2020] Soandso tells the raid, '[ SE1 ] - TANKING - a restless shadowbone'

- Using the hotkey pattern triggers overlays for MAs to indicate the restless adds currently available to pick from


Healers

If you are assigned to Group 1 or 2, then position in T hallway section either WEST or EAST side depending on tanks in group

Tanks in Groups 1 and 2 are assigned one per room and kept together for WEST vs EAST

Let me know during prep if you're not sure what I mean and I'll show you were to position based on your group

If you are in a group number assigned as part of the SWITCH operation, then you SWITCH when coordinator call happens

A Shaman is assigned WEST and another person EAST to slow room adds.  Tanks will send you a tell accordingly

Cleric MGB / IoS assigned by boss HP%


DPS


Melee DPS:

Rangers: Do not use bow damage on Shade adds - Shades have a self buff that decreases damage taken from Archery and Throwing by 75% (Shadowy Form).

To help deal with the sliding floor in middle it may help to toggle WALK ON instead of RUN, to better navigate the MIDDLE area to directly melee shades as they move around.

Use judgement for your discs.  Save some discs for Shades in MIDDLE area.  We tend to kill Shades in middle slower due to them moving around and it is a bit more difficult for melee to position accurately because of the sliding floor.  Killing them more quickly reduces the knockback effect they do which leads to less player interrupts and of course boss HP drops more quickly.


Caster DPS:

Use judgement for your discs.  We tend to kill room adds quickly but fall behind on Shades in middle area.  Therefore as casters, you're more performant against Shades because you don't have to move much at all to cast on your target.  Whereas melee on Shades have to adjust position often to damage the moving target.

Make sure Shades are debuffed.  Some casters cannot land anything without the Shades being debuffed.

Sick your pets on the Shade being killed regardless whether you are in a ROOM or MIDDLE at the time.  Pets are really good against Shades because they're not hindered by the sliding floor.



MAs Kill Order: restless

Delegated Raid Mark NPC:  Two players assigned to mark restless shades in middle area.  Raid Mark 1 is primary.  Mark 2 and 3 are for secondary DoT'ers, where they primarily gun for Mark 1, but are able to spread dots on Mark 2 and 3 to optimize.

Heart of Frozen Shadow

Heart of Frozen Shadow does not care for hairy footed creatures of Norrath.  This is odd, since hairy footed creatures are by far the most adorable and friendly.

Event Timer:
[Sat Sep 05 23:38:04 2020] You grow colder by the moment. This dark chill is unbearable. At this rate, you will freeze solid in 19 more minutes.

Tendrils of Restless Ice100k Caster PB + Knockback (AE Range 10k)

Various adds spawn throughout event.

If you happen to see a rhinoceros stampede through the event area, it's possible you are trapped in Jumanji.

Idle adds emote: A bone-chilling howl echoes throughout the frozen first floor. The inhabitants are idle and restless!

Do not use bow/throwing damage on Shade adds - Shades have a self buff that decreases damage taken from Archery and Throwing by 75% (Shadowy Form).

Main Assists Trigger Settings Note:
Check to ensure the overlay is behaving as intended.  A single overlay should appear
for each different room location and number.  In order for this to work, both trigger
properties may have to be edited as follows:

1) Double click the trigger to open properties dialog

2) Click "Timer" tab, to left of "Basic" tab

3) In Timer properties, look for "If timer is already running when triggered again:" and
ensure "Restart current timer" option is selected.  Directly below this are two radio
dialog buttons, ensure "Restart instance if Timer Name matches" is selected.

4) Click "Save" button

5) Do this for both triggers (EAST ... and WEST ...)

Note: manual tweaking of these settings is required because GINA either doesn't save these
particular properties when exporting the package or it was coded this way on purpose in
order to inherit the user's settings in some way.

We had a good run on this Friday.  We returned Saturday with some adjusts and after a couple attempts we got it down.  Awesome work everyone!

Thursday, September 24, 2020 - Strategy Post Updated

Last week we had a few jam ups on this event.  It primarily boiled down to our performance in several areas.

We're basically losing this event within 1-2 kills roughly.  We're also hitting the timer, but with some adjustments we can overcome this.


Keeping Tanks Alive

As healers, last week we certainly could have played better on our early runs.  On the final run Saturday though we stepped up our game and overall kept the tanks up much better.

It cannot be stressed enough that losing tanks turns this event into a big cluster F.  If our backup tank doesn't immediately pick up the add (and we don't have enough backups for each room), then the add runs off out of bounds and naturally starts DT'ing people.

We need to be exceptional on this front and not lose tanks.

All healers outside Group 1 and 2 need to ensure they have their ETW filled with all the tanks; with priority given to tanks in Group 1 and 2, and help heal them.


Kill Shades in Middle Quickly

This is one area we're falling behind on.  We tend to kill Shades in middle slower than the room adds.

Reyek had an idea on this and we're going to try it out next run.  Basically, mix up the groups assigned to Rooms and Middle, so that there's a better mixture of Caster/Melee DPS.  Currently, we tend to stack melee starting out in rooms and casters in middle.  But once melee end up in middle, we suffer a slower kill rate primarily due to Shades moving and the sliding floor effect.  Mixing up groups should help in this area.

Further, some adjusts and reminders have been added to the main strategy post.  They're outlined below:

Simple concept being lost on some folks.  Follow instructions and coordinator calls.

We're going into this event with less than a full raid and almost pulling off a win.  Our last couple of wins have been with less than a full raid.

It would be helpful to have an audio trigger for the announcement to swap between center and rooms.  Perhaps those calls could use the existing "announce" trigger.

Do you have the FL announce triggers? When Faldyarr calls out the switch, you should be getting an AT from Gina if you have the FL announce triggers downloaded.

It turns out I had the 2016 version of the generic triggers.  I must have received the newer version via sharing when it was created, but then I had to rebuild my machine so I loaded triggers from my saved trigger files.  Thanks for the pointer.
