Brief Event Overview & Strategy

* Mandatory Audio/Text GTT Trigger information is available in the GTT section further down in this post.

Warning: TURN OFF ENVIRONMENT SOUND in Options window, General tab.  This will mute out erroneous arena sounds which can be confused with trigger emotes.

For this event, the battle takes place in an arena with an audience in the stands.  We're confronted with several challengers that spawn in stages.

The entire event revolves around playing to the crowd.  As we battle each challenger (miniboss, boss, adds), we must REACT properly to the crowds demands, or suffer penalties (extra adds, power-ups, AEs).  Successful reactions, and we're rewarded for our performance with an AE Heal, Mana and Endurance on the raid.

The Crowd demands various things, such as: the fight is going too fast, too slow, or a certain section of crowd wants the action brought closer.

Assist your assigned MA please, as you react to triggers and /raidsay coordination calls.

The Challengers

Each challenger spawns as the previous dies.

FRIGHTENED SLAVE:

For our first encounter, we're introduced to the crowd emotes with a frightened slave which flees periodically, de-aggroing/memblurring each time.

Note: Pre-show stage setter possibly.  If this is like the group mission, failure to kill this slave before the event updates and we'll suffer powered up versions of the bosses.

SLAVE DRIVER SEDROS:

Our first real miniboss, Sedros.  Spawns slave adds, and directional crowd emotes in addition to the previous emotes.

AEs:
Whip - 65k AE DD + Pull
Enslave - Charm (single-target, short duration)

KILSEV THE BRUTE:

Kilsev emote warns before casting Rage, a 59k AE DD + Stun and knockback (every 70s approximately).

When your trigger fires, BACK AWAY FROM KILSEV.  You have 6 seconds to react before the AE starts.

When you're personally emoted please KITE KILSEV.  STOP when your other trigger tells you to do so.

VYZH`DRA THE GODSLAYER:

Spawns with Tiger adds.  Additional Tiger adds for each emote failure.

Emote warns when Vyzh`Dra draws power from the crowd's energy.  You have 12 seconds to BACK AWAY FROM Vyzh`Dra before the Champion's Rage AE fires.

The Crowd emotes all remain in play (speed up, slow down, directional moves).

Emote Pattern: draws power from the crowd's energy.
Action: BACK AWAY FROM Vyzh`Dra

AEs:
Champion's Rage - 55k AE (150' range)
Call Forth the Coward - 77k DD + Pull towards Vyzh`Dra (single-target)
Cowardly Character - SILENCE CASTER/MELEE (single-target)

Text / Audio Triggers - Mandatory

ALL Mandatory Setup

* Replace YOURNAME with your character name where applicable (1x).

Everyone please download this base set.

Base GTT Everyone Set: 07.18.2013 - rof-chelsith.gtt

Audio Files: None, text to speech GTT feature used instead.

Supplemental PET OFF Trigger - Magicians, Necromancers and Beastlords

Back your pet off boss when this trigger fires please.  As we need to move the boss, and it'll be easier with pets off.  Thanks.

Trigger File: rof-chelsith-pets.gtt

Audio Files: None, text to speech GTT feature used instead.

Supplemental Move Boss & Tank Swap Emote Triggers - Main Tanks

For Main Tanks assigned to Bosses.

Each time the crowd calls for action to be brought closer, the trigger will fire indicating which direction to MOVE THE BOSS.

Main Tanks - The crowd grows bored at times, and will emote something to the effect of:
They are tired of seeing Kilsev fight Soandso
They are tired of seeing Vyzh`dra fight Soandso

Your trigger will fire based on: They are tired of seeing
Action: TANK SWAP please, to avoid a penalty

Trigger File: 06.15.2013 - rof-chelsith-move-boss-directions.gtt

Audio Files: None, text to speech GTT feature used instead.

Supplemental Trigger Additions - Melee Classes (tanks too)

Frightened Slave DS warning and when it hits you, pierced by thorns.

Trigger tells you to back off DPS for 12s.  However, smart melee DPS'ers know that when the DS is active, they should strive to bandolier to SECONDARY only attack combined with AA Slippery Attacks 5/5.  Put something in primary such as Wand of Imperceptibility, and your main weapon in secondary.  You'll not suffer any DS hits and still be able to do some DPS.

Trigger File: rof-chelsith-melee-ds.gtt

Audio Files: None, text to speech GTT feature used instead.

Note: The base trigger set has been altered to reflect this change.

There's couple more triggers I'll add tomorrow (er, later today before raid).  Zzz.   So perhaps wait for my post again for the updated version to avoid having to update again.

Sorry in advance all.  But I based the initial triggers on patterns based on the mission only, as we hadn't made any raid attempts yet.  But as a couple of others have mentioned, they've seen the raid and we're missing a few more trigs!  So Pfft.  Going to Zzz, this is Halflling abuse.  Good night, will fix the rest in the morning.

IMPORTANT: Delete ALL Chelsith triggers before you import the new set.

Added three more triggers to the base GTT set.   Thanks Oruatyrim for the pattern additions.

Ok.  A few things.

1) The first slave drops agro like a rock when she is ready to run.  I know you like to pull everyone off before the first slave makes a choice, but maybe not need to.

2) Slaves are stunable.  I think good idea is to have a bard and pally duo the mezzed slave -- that way the slave will not agro the bard and the pally can keep agro allowing the bard to mez the slave.  Tis what I did with a bard (forget name) on the attempt we succeeded in getting to Kilsev.

3) During Kilsev there are a number of bags that drop.  They cause a nasty dot.  This dot is cureable. Not certain what it is, but it is not corruption.  Pally Splash AND Reverent Purity cures it.

Oh, forgot.  All the slaves come through the door.  I bet so do the tigers.

If by "bags" you mean blobs (aka stationary goo-like mobs), these are penalties for missing emotes on Kilsev (besides any crowd AEs etc).  I believe the max is around 8, always in a particular pattern across the arena floor, and they can be avoided.  Nevertheless, not spawning them and beating the emote is the best way to avoid them. :)

I do not know if it was just the death of DPS, or the mobs increasing in total HP, but I did notice that the "Increase DPS Emote" was more difficult to satisfy as the event wore on.  I suspect that it's a certain % of the boss's HP, not the total damage we do, so we may have to 'step up' our DPS pushes on the later mobs.  Again, it could just be more DPS was dead at that point, but keep this in mind for the next attempt.

Also, if you're a melee DPS or even a secondary tank who needs a little reminder about when to turn off autoattack against the first boss, couple things:

1) When the frightened slave decides to fight or flee, she's about to turn it on, especially if she doesn't run.  If she does run, as Maglor said above, you need to back off soon anyway to let the MT re-establish aggro.

2) Make a trigger "YOU are pierced by thorns!" but turn it on just for this raid.  That's a VERY common damage shield message and it'll drive you nuts otherwise, but if you need it, put it in to remind yourself.

Event Adjusts

We sized up this event on Saturday June 15th, with encouraging results.  3rd Stage finishing at Kilsev to 60%.  A strong start.

Below are some adjusts.

Overall
  • Trigger for more damage was changed to pick up all occurrences of the emote
  • Trigger added for DS, warning and actual.
  • It's critical we do not fail any of the crowd emotes.  Any failure results in not just an AE penalty, but the NEXT BOSS is POWERED UP (hits for 40k).
  • React immediately the moment your crowd emote fires for DPS OFF and MORE DPS.  Do not wait for MA/RS call.

Frightened Slave
  • Does a fight or flee emote.  Depending on the outcome (RNG), if it decides to fight, it'll cast a self-DS that lasts for 12 seconds.
  • Melee - When DS hits, STOP ATTACKING.
  • Paladins - Queue up your splash ring, when DS hits, SPLASH the raid to help cover the initial melee damage

Sedros
  • Sedros spawns and walks into middle of the arena to activate.  Do not be in the middle unless you are part of the MT lineup.  A /raidsay move north call will be done to help remind everyone.
  • Sedros AE Rampages - Paladins, help cover melee damage with consistent splashing.
Slave Adds:
  • They come from the door. 4x on initial spawn.  We may get additional ones for each emote failure.
  • Bards/Enchanters MEZ immediately.
  • Assigned Paladins, STUN the slaves.
  • MA2 - With assigned caster/range groups, kill all but ONE slave; we'll save for kill slave emotes.  Between this time, go back and forth on boss/slave as necessary reacting to slave kill emote, or to kill any extras.

Kilsev

Abilities: AE Rampages, Single-Target Rampages

Additional Emote Failure Penalty:

Pile of waste (black goo or oil slick looking mobs), spawn for EACH emote failure during Kilsev, in addition to the penalty AEs etc.  They do not fight back, but going near one casts a DoT on you: Toxicity, 44k DoT + Snare (disease cures).

Avoid failing emotes, and we can avoid spawning them please.

Kite Emote Reminder:

During Kilsev, you can be PERSONALLY TARGETED and required to KITE KILSEV.  There's a trigger already for it, but just be aware and react quickly.  An additional trigger will fire when to stop kiting.

Trigger Changes - Everyone

[Sat Jun 15 21:49:27 2013] The crowd boos. They want to see more damage!
[Sat Jun 15 21:58:25 2013] The crowd boos. They want to see more damage done to Sedros!
[Sat Jun 15 22:41:30 2013] The crowd boos. They want to see more damage done to Kilsev!

Our pattern isn't universally matching all of the above occurrences.  Remove the " done" portion of the pattern and it'll match every time.

Pattern Change From: They want to see more damage done
Change to: They want to see more damage

Be careful not to leave a trailing space preceding the done after removal.  Test your trigger in-game to confirm it is working properly (in a private channel) please.  Thanks.

Note: The base trigger set has been altered to reflect this change.

In response to the comment by SS.  I do not know either about the increased number of "Increase DPS" emotes.  However, it did seem we had a lot of failures at that time on those and when I looked around, there were a lot of dead DPS during that.  I would suspect that our issue was keeping everyone alive.  This raid will be interesting.  It can go bad fast, but if we get the emotes right, avoid penalties and power ups, and pick up the next mob / adds without losing tanks off the bat, I could see this being really easy.  Well, at least as far as we got.

Just noticed something during last nights attempt.  During Sedros, we failed the more dps emote while we were killing slaves.  Really important that as soon as that goes off, we get off slaves and onto Sedros.  Really quick reaction time is essential there.

I am sure you are already on that, but figured i'd post it anyway  ;)

Event Adjusts:

Some quick adjusts.

Do not use swarm pets on anything after FRIGHTENED SLAVE.  Unfortunately, they're not controllable, and causing issues with moving the later boss, and subsequently will cause issues with the final boss which has all the elements combined prior.

When Kilsev Kite Emotes:

Kilsev - When kite targeted, the warning emote is 5-6 seconds before Kilsev begins chasing you.  It's important to be a distance, but not run too early right as you're kited or you can end up closer to Kilsev when it does start to chase you!  When kiting, use the outside wall of arena and run in a counter-clockwise direction.  Everyone else can converge in the middle.

Triggers - Not just for Tanks in this case:

There's no changes to the trigger files, just adjusting who is to download/import them.

We need EVERYONE to import the above supplemental tank triggers.

It's important that everyone knows when the crowd calls for boss to be moved CLOSER to one area of the arena.  This way you can BACK OFF your pets, and run to that location to be ready for re-engage.  Remember, no swarm pets!

There's FOUR direction triggers in the file.  But there's also a tank swap trigger that fires based on an emote that is only for the MT.  You can just delete that, or ignore it.  It's for Main Tanks, to swap briefly to avoid a penalty (a la Grelleth DT mechanic).

This is important.  Any damage that is avoidable, should be avoided.  By not reacting, it has a ripple effect.  I'll explain:

As a healer, in a group, when melee take damage from not bando/reacting to avoid this DS, that healer diverts their attention to COVER that damage.  Within that time frame, they've stopped healing their primary target (be it MT or Add tank, or other that is taking unavoidable damage).  This impacts our performance and survival overall.

Ok.  Found out that the tigers are NOT stunable.  Plus they hit hard.  Think we need to kill most, if not all.  Hopefully tigers do not respawn unless there is a failure (another reason to not fail the triggers), if so, we can kill them fast then focus on boss.

Event Adjusts

We're getting there!  Reaching the final boss more regularly, and smoothing out our rough spots along the way.  A few more tweaks to polish.
  • Trigger adjust: tigers to attack, tells us an add has spawned, but we also must MOVE CLOSER TO BOSS.  Added the voice onto the existing trigger.  Edit yours to reflect please.
  • When targeted to kite -- Stop, look where Boss is in relation to you, and kite it AROUND the outside wall/edges of arena.  Everyone else move to middle, avoid AE from boss if too close.
  • Spell Casters of any type: Be aware of boss immunity to certain lines.  Sedros appears to be immune to magic for example.  Adjust your spells to optimize for each boss.  Save the spell sets and swap in/out each boss.
  • Banestrike - It's not useless, use it.  8k damage times 30+ in raid = 240k every minute or less.
  • Melee DPS - You're DPS, not healers.  See my note below

Spell Casters All

Can you reply please as to what you've noticed for immunity aside from Sedros magic.  Thanks.

Melee DPS

Certain events such as Crystal Caverns or at times I've asked you to help patch the MT.  For CC, during tentacle form Danela of course it makes sense to patch MT as you can't do any damage during that form.  For other events, there have been times I've asked you guys to patch for various reasons.

My concern however is my comments have transitioned into meaning: patch heal regardless at all times and all events.

This isn't the message I wish to convey /blush.  I want Rangers, Beastlords, Paladins to be doing their MAIN ROLE as priority.  Be it Tanking as a Paladin, when not, you're DPS + splashing or tossing the occasional heal to help out.  For Rangers and Beastlords, your priority #1 is DPS.  I expect our parses going forward to reflect that.  I know you guys can do wicked DPS, let's make that a reality again.

See you in game!

I was getting reports from some that it was, or on certain bosses.
