Brief Event Overview & Strategy

Pre-notes: Work in Progress

During this event, we must deal with Vulak`Aerr, in addition to Guardian drakes, Chaos Orbs and no doubt AEs.

Throughout the event, Chaos Orbs spawn which are rootable/snareable, and may lose HP when rooted/snared (mechanic).  Orbs AE 85k DD and 20k DD (explode possibly).

Every few minutes, Vulak`Aerr goes inactive and a wave of SIX Guardian drake adds spawn.  To avoid an AE DT, we must kill the drakes before Vulak goes active again.

Tactics
  • Vulak Guardian 6x drakes spawn at timed intervals.
  • RED and BLUE Guardian drakes have an aura on their remaining corpse; we'll kill these last of the set, AT RAID location.
  • TANKS - Tank the following Guardians AWAY FROM THE MAIN RAID: GREEN, BROWN, PURPLE, BLACK (bad effect from their corpse auras)
  • Vulak remains active from 25% HP onward.
  • Vulak spawns additional adds starting around 40% onward possibly (trash style adds)

Assigned groups will continue to kill the trash style timed adds when they start to spawn around 40% and onward.  We must keep pace with those adds before they overwhelm and wipe us.

Special assigned groups only will maintain DPS on Vulak from 25% onward.

Casters & Melee - AE Rampage

Vulak AE Rampages, for full damage.   Melee and Casters, it's critical that you find the sweet spot to avoid this rampage as much as possible.  Constantly being in AE Rampage causes your healer to divert their attention to patch you, which is diverting their heals away from the Main Tank.  In addition, other heal DPS classes are diverting their attention to heal the damage which hampers their DPS.

* Tip:

Vulak is a belly caster.  But that doesn't mean you have to be directly underneath in order to land spells.  Sinnayr and Kotsukai were reporting no issues adjusting to avoid AE Rampage, and still land spells no problem.  They use their pets as the AE rampage marker, stand behind their pet and then adjust slightly as necessary to find that "sweet spot" to avoid AE rampage and still land spells.

Melee, you can do the same, as the visual pets act as a good marker to help in this regard.  After guardians down and you have to re-engage Vulak, look at the pets, stand behind a pet and then edge up, rinse/repeat as necessary until your swings are not missing.

Notes:
  • Window to kill the guardians is possibly 2 minutes 30 seconds.
  • There's possibly an AURA associated with each Guardian drake
  • Vulak is a belly caster

Defeated Friday, September 27, 2013!

Smooth execution for the 2nd attempt and resulting win.  Nice work everyone!

Adjusted the previous post regarding Guardian drakes:

RED and BLUE Guardian drakes are the ones we want to kill AT RAID.
Guardian drakes spawn at timed intervals.
