Every 1:35 we get a priest and skirmisher at the specified points.

Every 5% of VZ's HP we get 5 adds in random places of any of the A1-A6 locations. Sometimes two or more adds have the same spawn point in a single wave.

If adds are not picked up quickly, they assist TZ and VZ, and go after people in those rooms. TZ and VZ share aggro lists - if the tanks on one side die, tanks and healers from the other boss team get summoned and killed.

When we wipe on this event, here is what I'm noticing most often -

Adds are not picked up, so they run into TZ/VZ rooms. They kill a couple people in the room, and one of the boss teams begins to seriously struggle/die. The boss then summons people from the other boss team. Now both boss teams are borderline wiping, and VZ/TZ begin summoning and killing DPS (once the MTs for one team have all died, pretty much everyone else in the raid has more aggro, and will be killed first). From here our DPS slows immensely and we lose our chances of beating the event during the time limit.

I don't know if something else is causing adds to not get picked up (maybe add tanks died earlier or something else), but I see this as our biggest issue. Adds are all controllable in some way - either mez, stun, or snare. We need to memorize add weaknesses and act on them. I have a little postit on my monitor with the add types and banes on it - it makes it easy to check during the raid, as I don't have them memorized.

Another suggestion to ease add kills is to make an /xtar hotkey (ex: stunnable adds) -

     /xtar set 3 a_Rallosian_archer00
     /xtar set 4 a_Rallosian_marauder00
     /xtar set 5 a_Rallosian_salvebringer00

This assigns slot 3, 4, and 5 of your extended target window to each mob, respectively. I hit this key when adds pop, and easily find out if anything currently up is stunnable. (This wont work for multiple spawns of each type, but it helps). If no mobs of that name are up, you get a red message saying the NPC does not exist.

Another thing I wanted to bring up is dealing with the snares on this event. Many of you already know this, but just as a refresher / for those who don't - there are 3 types of snare:

Radiant Cure, the Cleric Epic, and Pure Spirit have a 95% chance of removing detrimental spells (works on Barb of Tallon / Chains of War). PAL Splash has a 60% chance of removing detrimental spells. Slog must be cured by disease. When you need a cure, it really helps if you specify what type you need. I suggest asking for a disease cure if you get Slog, and for the others ask for a detrimental cure. Otherwise, there is a good chance your curer will cast the wrong cure.

Upcoming Events & Strategy / Re: CoTF - Void H Raid - The Journey Home
« on: August 20, 2014, 02:50:52 AM »
My suggestions -

- Change warning emote for Lifescourge, the warning and landing emotes are flipped.
- Follow relic emotes (given below) especially for Qeynos Technique and Ro's Flaming Swath. Avoiding these will save a lot of raid damage / DTs.
- Camp the raid slightly more than 80' from Lanys, if possible (for Swath and Qeynos Technique)
- Keep adds out of LoS from Lanys, possibly with bard pile AA.
- 4th island (SW), Lanys Voidcast emote (given below)

The current emote we are using to avoid Lifescourge (corruption HP debuff) is incorrect - we are using the spell landing emote. The warning phrase is:

Lanys T`Vyl says 'You aren't as strong as you think, YOURNAME!'

This is opposite from the way the group mission works.

ex:

[Sat Aug 16 19:49:14 2014] Lanys T`Vyl says 'You aren't as strong as you think, Huevos!' (10s warning)
[Sat Aug 16 19:49:24 2014] Lanys T`Vyl says 'See how weak you are, Huevos?' (Lifescourge landing)
     [Sat Aug 16 19:49:24 2014] Lanys T`Vyl begins to cast a spell.
     [Sat Aug 16 19:49:24 2014] Zaknaffein's life is diminished.
     [Sat Aug 16 19:49:24 2014] Trolbiterr's life is diminished.
     [Sat Aug 16 19:49:24 2014] Windreaper's life is diminished.
     ...
[Sat Aug 16 19:49:24 2014] Your life is diminished.

It's not necessarily that bad to cure our groups, but when the raid at large needs a cure, it takes a lot of healer attention away from the MT, even with pally splash assisting. It would really help out not to have to worry about this debuff landing as often (every 45 seconds).

After Sarenth dies, every 50 seconds Lanys uses a random relic. She emotes 10 seconds before using each relic. This is ample time to avoid (for the most part) Qeynos Technique and Ro's Flaming Swath (if you are meleeing).

Warning emotes for relic use:

Qeynos Technique (115k AE, 80' range):

Lanys T`Vyl raises the Qeynos Claymore.
Lanys T`Vyl swings the Qeynos Claymore. (10s later)

Ro's Flaming Swath (80' frontal beam doom DoT):

Lanys T`Vyl stokes the Flame of Ro.
Lanys T`Vyl spreads the Flame of Ro. (10s later)

Silence of G`han (single target melee & spell silence):

Lanys T`Vyl unrolls the Scroll of G`han.
Lanys T`Vyl reads the Scroll of G`han. (10s later)

Selo's Frenzy (charm on MT):

Lanys T`Vyl prepares to beat Selo's Drum.
     Lanys T`Vyl beats Selo's Drum. (10s later)

Lanys Voidcast emote (she boots you off the island):

[Sat Aug 16 19:37:08 2014] Lanys T`Vyl says 'Didn't I tell you this was my island, Mildaria?' (5s warning)
     [Sat Aug 16 19:37:13 2014] Lanys T`Vyl begins to cast a spell.
[Sat Aug 16 19:37:13 2014] You are thrown by an explosion.  You have taken 89850 points of damage.

Voidcast seems to be cast on anyone else on the SW island (often whoever the secondary tank is). Not sure what to do about it, but healers definitely shouldn't stand on the SW island in the 85-80% phase (I learned this the hard way). 5 seconds is not very much time to react, but Voidcast might be avoidable if whoever is emoted gets off the island.

I'm sure many people have noticed these emotes during raids, and they may not seem that bad on their own, but when combined they can be very deadly.

ex:

[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Lanys T`Vyl swings the Qeynos Claymore.
     [Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Lanys T`Vyl begins to cast a spell.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Minisca is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Apook is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Apook has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Bdallya is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Bitsofriar's death pact has been benevolently fulfilled!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Bitsofriar is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Tyranosawr is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] You are cut by the Qeynos Claymore.  You have taken 74850 points of damage.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Darkarma is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Darkarma has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Huevos is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Huevos has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Furro is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Furro has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Mystacal is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Mystacal has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Winana is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Zuhymn is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Lisard is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Steel is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Zzhymn is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Zzhymn has been slain by Lanys T`Vyl!
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Bitsoblowsemup is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Bonaiel is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Sirenea is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.
[Sat Aug 16 19:53:09 2014] Padraigg is cut by the Qeynos Claymore.

As far as I know, there's no way to tell who gets silenced so the emote for this isn't helpful (Scroll of G`han).

Knowing the charm is coming would help healers a lot, and its possible we could have another tank eat the charm for the MT if necessary.

One thing to note about this event, some of the frontal AEs that Lanys and other NPCs use are not really frontal. They are directed at a player (Lifescourge) or another NPC (Sarenth/doomscale adds).

Add timers:

GINA add timers download

The triggers I've included are as follows:

The undying remains of Kyle's royal guards materialize around the table.
     - At 90%, 4 royals spawn around the table

The spirits of Lord Kyle's most trusted advisors take form.
     - At 75%, the 3 minibosses spawn

a royal {s} has been slain
     - If a royal is killed, a 45s respawn timer starts

The undying remains of the rest of Kyle's royal guards materialize around the table.
     - At 50%, 8 royals spawn

The tower shakes with sinister purpose as the restless souls of Kyle's fallen soldiers are reanimated.
     - At 25%, a 75s repeating timer starts to indicate when fallen will spawn (this one is the most important)

AE stun works for at least the first few sets of sword adds, but the ones at the end are all stun immune. In the group mission I tried charm/mez and they were immune to these also.

If we can stay invis and be patient, the imps path into 4 piles (NE, SE, SW, NW) around the center flame:

They periodically path around to different corners, so the numbers in each pile aren't always equal. This is in the group mission, but is likely similar to the raid.

It may be easier to start CC'ing them from this setup.

Imp phase begins:
Councilor Murant shouts 'I call to you, Solusek Ro! Send us your assistance! Help us repel these invaders!'

40 seconds later, the first beam emote goes off. It may take longer than this for all the imps to spawn and path to the middle.

After being unengaged for 2 minutes, the event resets.

Edit:

Balance failure emote (High Keepers):
As one High Keeper grows weaker, the flames of the other grow much stronger. This imbalance is embraced by Solusek Ro, and is surely dangerous.

phoenix AE timer:
Aggro message:
a wildfire phoenix swoops down, talons outstretched and ready to strike.

65s later, the phoenix explodes:
a wildfire phoenix has absorbed too much power. It pulses with fire and then explodes, only to be instantly reborn.

Raid Performance / Re: Debuff Breakdown - Spells & AA
« on: June 27, 2014, 03:35:02 AM »
New SK debuff:

T'vyl's Resolve
Classes: SHD/254
Target: Single
Resist: Unresistable
1: 2H Slash Attack for 381 with 10000% Accuracy Mod
2: 2H Slash Attack for 381 with 10000% Accuracy Mod
3: 2H Slash Attack for 381 with 10000% Accuracy Mod
4: Cast: T'vyl's Resolve Effect (75% Chance)
Text: You are struck by a flurry of blades.

T'vyl's Resolve Effect
Duration: 12s (2 ticks), Dispelable: Yes
8: Increase Hit Damage Taken by 50%

This is amazing. "Stacks" but is not cumulative with the bard disc Funeral Dirge:

Funeral Dirge
Target: Single
Resist: Magic -150
Duration: 42s (7 ticks), Dispelable: Yes
2: Cast: Shrieking Death if Not Cured
5: Increase Hit Damage Taken by 21%
Text: You are overwhelmed by the sadness of a Funeral Dirge.

My suggestion would be to have SKs rotate T'vyl's Resolve on burn fights, followed by the bard Funeral Dirge rotation. Although T'vyl's is only 75% proc rate, I have yet to see it fail to proc (knock on wood).

More triggers:

Slave Driver Thokk:

Slave Driver Thokk coils up his whip and aims for your head. You should duck.
Slave Driver Thokk's whip passes harmlessly overhead. [10s later]

The Barb:

You are drawn toward The Barb. [Archer's Draw]

Archer's Draw is buggy, and if you aren't close enough, will not draw you in. Since The Barb's HPs lock if people fail to follow the push mechanics, when you get Archer's Draw you should move in close. Minimizing pet use on this mob seems to help keep his HP from locking (its possible his emote is hitting pets).

Kijarl, Arcanist of Rulnavis:

Kijarl begins to absorb all damage.
Kijarl performs an exceptional heal! [12s later, absorb phase has ended & resume dps]

Commander Inasch Prae`va:

Spawns "a mind-sustained vicar" (spell and melee resistant, these cast a 75k nuke and cleric PoWar spells) at certain health percentages. An unknown mechanic can kill them instantly. Not 100% sure on this but I think Inasch absorbs spells and uses them to heal himself (for at least part of his life). When we fought him, he cast over 4000 spells (Unknown), all directly after and in proportion to the non-melee hits he received.

I do not lag very badly in this raid. Suggestions on reducing lag in EQ (in general) in this post. Might be useful at least until the event is fixed - and optimizing EQ settings is a good thing to do in general. :)

Raider Essentials / Optimizing EQ Performance
« on: May 23, 2014, 05:26:50 AM »
Thought this might be helpful to some people looking to reduce lag in Tower of Rot raid, and also to improve EQ performance in general. This is a post from my old guild's forums.

Many of these modifications don't sacrifice how EQ looks, but help it run faster. I know it's a pain to go through - it took me a long time to actually do it but in the end you'll be really pleased with the performance increase you can get out of modifying your system.

- WinEQ 2.0 (download link) I love WinEQ! There's really no reason not to use it. It's exactly like regular EQ, just a little bit faster. WinEQ provides custom ini settings, and improvements for PCs with hyperthreading/multiple cores. If you use WinEQ 2.0, make sure you disable EQPlayNice as the latest few EQ clients do a better job of managing CPU usage.

Disabling EQPlayNice in WinEQ:

Tweaking Files:
*** Make a copy of these files before you edit them, just in case something goes wrong! ***
Make these changes when you're not running EQ or WinEQ to ensure they're saved properly.
Finding these files depends on where your EverQuest directory is located. In my case -

     C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest

- eqclient.ini - located in the EverQuest directory
If you do not have any of these lines, just add to the file below [Defaults] (anywhere near the beginning of eqclient.ini)
set the following variables:

     CPUAffinity0=-1
     ServerFilter=1
     MultiPassLighting=FALSE
     ShowGrass=FALSE
     AllLuclinPcModelsOff=TRUE
     LoadVeliousArmorsWithLuclin=FALSE
     Sound=FALSE
     Music=0
     EnvSounds=0
     CombatMusic=FALSE
     WaterSwap=0

Note:
- For CPUAffinity0, as far as I know any nonzero number works. This is just what I read on EQlive.
- Only set AllLuclinPcModelsOff=TRUE if you are ok with 100% old models.
- Only set Sound=FALSE if you are ok with disabling audio triggers / EQ sound. This does not effect GTT/GINA.

- airplane_chr.txt - located in EverQuest
hohonora_chr.txt
illsalin_chr.txt
postorms_chr.txt

Erase all contents of these files and replace with the following:

     1
     dke,dke

This adjusts which NPC models are loaded into these zones (rather hefty for EQ to load). This should work for any EQ zone file (i.e. worth trying on Tower of Rot). (Check this thread if you want to know what this does)

- dbg.txt - located in EverQuest\Logs
Right click dbg.txt > click Properties > check Read-only

- NOSOUND.TXT
Open notepad, leave this new file completely empty and save as NOSOUND.TXT - place this file in your EverQuest directory.
Running EQ with no sound can improve its performance, even if you have music/sounds turned off in game, the client still loads a lot of sound files. This does not impact GINA or GamTextTriggers.

- eqgame.exe - located in EverQuest
(This change is only helpful to Windows 7 & 8 users, and maybe Vista)
If you don't want to use WinEQ (but you should!) and instead use a desktop shortcut to eqgame.exe, you'll need to modify the shortcut.
Right click eqgame.exe > click Properties > Compatability tab > check "Run this program as an administrator" and "Run this program in compatability mode for: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)"

- WinEQ2.exe
Same modification as above - auto enable administrator access and run as Windows XP compatabile.

- Manually Set Affinity
The CPUAffinity variable in eqclient.ini selects the next available CPU upon loading an EQ client. (i.e. My first eqgame.exe is running on Processor 0, then 1, 2 etc). You can manually do this in Windows 7 via the following:
Start > Search for taskmgr.exe (run as administrator) > Processes tab > right click eqgame.exe > Set Affinity... > All Processors

-OptionsEditor.exe - located in EverQuest
Run OptionsEditor.exe, unchecking Luclin models helps if you don't mind the old models. Disable sound, social animations, mip mapping, and dynamic lighting.

- Exclude EQ in Anti-Virus Software
If you're uncomfortable with this one, don't do it! You can add an exception/exclusion for EverQuest to your anti-virus. How to do this depends on which software you use. In general, you want any real-time scanning to exclude the EverQuest directory and WinEQ. If you need help setting this up in avast!or MSE I can help you.

- ReadyBoost! (for Windows Vista, 7, 8 )
(disregard if you use an SSD)
If you have a spare flash drive, use it for ReadyBoost! It is a really easy way to speed up your PC. Plug in the flash drive and remove any files from it. Right click the drive in My Computer, go to Properties > ReadyBoost tab > configure as you please. You can use multiple USB drives for this - up to 8 drives and 128 GB. As many USB drives as you have laying around, slots you have available in your PC, and as much speed as you crave out of your machine.

- Windows Page File
Ever get the message "Windows' virtual memory is running low..."? if so, you should definitely modify the size of your page file - its really quite easy, so do it! See the Windows guide here. The size of your page file depends on how much RAM you have - generally it should be set to 2x your system RAM.

- EQ Options
In game, hit ALT O > Display tab.
I recommend enabling Level of Detail. This reduces the detail of distant PC & NPCs.

Enabling vertex shaders takes load off your CPU and puts it on your video card instead - a good idea. You'll see a performance boost from disabling Post Effects, but I really like them for raiding so I leave them on.

Now that I think of it, Vishimtar was probably the first raid to need audio triggers (I don't really remember when that function came out). And look what kind of mess we're in now. Thanks Vish!

Friendly FYI regarding the trash DTs -

Yellow bees (names start with B) cast Yellow Apitoxin on whomever is tanking.
Red bees (names start with Z) cast Red Apitoxin on whomever is tanking.
These spells are cast ~ every 15-30 seconds.

If someone with Yellow Apitoxin is stung twice by a red (Z) bee, they are DTd.
(emote = Your skin boils with yellow wasp toxin.)
If someone with Red Apitoxin is stung twice by a yellow (B) bee, they are DTd.
(emote = Your skin boils with red wasp toxin.)

The danger here comes from between waves - the previous tank is likely to get stung by the newly spawned wave (more than once) and get DT'd.

My suggestion -
If you are a tank, make a trigger for receiving the sting buff called NO RED BEES or NO YELLOW BEES (it could be non-intrusive, like a timer only). This is a good indicator for whether you are going to die on the next spawn wave if you get hit. The following wave inherits the previous aggro list, so good luck. :P

Also, as we saw tonight, if red bees (especially the tiny Zzatazz) get on the offtank teams, they will wipe quickly to DTs.
