I mean, I work for just a $1B corporation (small compared to SOE's resources I'm sure) and we not only have redundant power from different sources, but also a huge set of UPS batteries (in a cement room) and on top of that 2-3 generators.

Post by: Ssark on September 08, 2011, 11:40:51 PM: Widespread power outage is bad. Right now, no one is taking off from the airport in San Diego, and the Zoo is closed, etc. This is a pretty big deal for the poor folks who live in SD County. :(

You would think the main internet routers would have backup generators. They do have a 99.9% uptime to maintain !
