Brief Event Overview & Strategy

This time around we protect Lady Lendiniara the dragon from Commander Galenth and his subordinates!

Guard Vraymon

Straight forward, but there's now a 40% Spell/Melee slow. 

Paladins splash and healers RC will help remove the Curse (65 counters).

Healers and Casters - Stand 50 feet away to avoid the 68k AE DD.


Guard Teclisin

This one is a real treat.  Procs FD on Main Tank.  We lost a few tanks and DPS from this last week.

Tanks, ensure you have the the standard FD trigger setup: SOANDSO has fallen to the ground

The recast on the FD Soul Hammer is around 15 seconds.  The MT prior to point has to be on the ball to pick up immediately.

All healers, please ensure you have the MTO in your lineup as applicable.

Prisons spawn randomly at player locations, which SLOW/DMG.  DPS react to MA calls to destroy the prisons.


Lieutenant Rolth

This is our BURN mob.

Spawns adds.  We need Rolth dead in 45 seconds before the adds spawn.

This guy also has two AEs now. 64k DD, directional, and a 30k Knockback (50' range).

Healers and Casters, you want to be beyond 50' from Rolth.

Main Tank, position Rolth in the middle of the event area.

Tanks not in the MTO, use your DPS burn on Rolth as well.


Commander Galenth
  • Hard hitter.
  • Healers, patch MT hard.
  • Paladins, heavy on splashes please to cover AE Ramp and AE effects.

On the Lt. with the burning prisons.  they have a rather large melee hit box.  i was well outside of my targeting ring and still hitting them.  also found that even if it doesn't spawn on you - walking through it does freeze you.  ducking reset your locked spells if you started casting while frozen.  SK specific - you can hate step out of them.  try to point yourself at a pillar first so you dont hate step off the platform.  i imagine any other class with a 'step' can get out of them.

Event Adjusts

This event has been changed.  Several AEs and mechanics are now in play.  Those of you who were with us last week can attest to these changes.

Overall, we got our 2nd win on this last weekend.  But in light of the changes, we're tweaking our strategy going forward.


Prisons

These spawn at random players and SLOW/Trap.  Destroy the prisons to free the players, or we'll wipe.

Big hit box on the prisons.

For those with a hatestep ability, it's been reported to work to help escape the effect.  However, the prison will remain and therefore still must be destroyed to prevent others from accidentally becoming trapped by moving too close to one.


Guard Vraymon

Commander Galenth

With the addition of AEs, this guy is a real treat now.  We've done it tanking, but with significant losses.

We're going to take a different approach and let the DRAGON tank this guy, as we hang back and RANGE DPS.

Important, read this:

The main issue with this approach will be getting the dragon to attack Galenth.  The dragon is blinded, but should attack if attacked (I believe it's designed this way).

When Galenth is active, he paths down the ramp and heads to the dragon.  We normally intercept, but we MUST NOT ENGAGE until Galenth reaches the dragon and it attacks.

To pull this off, just as Commander Rolth dies, we will all INVIS and MOVE TO THE NORTH OR EAST Neriak/DH paths (and FD if you can), to avoid aggroing Galenth.  The commander doesn't see invis.  Once he reaches the dragon, it should attack and we can HEAL the dragon as we range DPS Rolth down.

The AEs in play are player targeted 45-52k DD's around 10 people at a time, one is short range other is big.  There's also an AE lifetap 100' range, every 60s.  Cover the damage as best able at this time.

Note: We'd ideally like to set RT after the dragon begins to tank.  So please wait for the assist call.  Thanks.


Edit: Commander Galenth, MT tanking, hard hitter.  Heavy on splashes PAL/CLR to cover AE Ramp and AE effects.

There is a post on Sony forums, we aren't the only people having trouble getting dragon to tank now.  Also many commented, it is a good test of tanks/healing to tank the boss yourself.  It is 100% feasible to tank it assuming everyone has ready and uses every tool they have, not just one disc.  But it is hard enough that if you aren't accustomed to activating ALL your abilities/clickies  etc you will loose a lot of exp.

Delayed reply, but we read the same thing on the SoE forums as well, and have avoided this since by making sure we're intercepting the Sargent properly.  We never really had an issue though, only like once or twice prior it had happened to us.

We're back to MT'ing the Commander, instead of using the Dragon.  Although we've done it a few times prior to the tune-down, with the recent changes to the Commanders DMG output, PC tanking has become more reasonable and efficient.

I've adjusted the earlier post in this thread to reflect our current method, to avoid confusion for anyone new coming into the fold with us.
