Editing your .ini with Vista and You
« on: October 18, 2008, 12:02:02 PM »
Recently I tried to insert some Socials provided by Freelance, but hit a snag; I couldnt! My hateful Vista would not let me save the .ini file. A box poped up saying: Cannot create the C:\blah\blah\blah.ini file. How this vexxed me. Daily I told my computer that I would trade her in for a newer model, but to no avail. After a few days of experimentation, I came upon a work-around. Its actually quite simple.

Remove the .ini file you wish to edit. Place it on your Desktop. Make note of its location (i.e. the file above and below it). From your desktop do the editing. Save, then place the .ini back in it's original location. Start up eq, and do a full scan. Vola!

On the occasion your .ini file may get moved after the full scan; dont worry it will still work. It just makes finding the .ini again irritating.

Anyway, hopes that helps you Vista users out there!
