Plane of War - Progression & Hunter Achievement

As many of you know, we've been working on Plane of War Hunter Achievement and progression for this zone over the last few weeks.  The zone has a lot to offer, and the rewards commensurate with the challenge, effort and time invested both through our raids and grouping.

This post provides starting points and info to the various progression quests, achievement rewards, audio/text triggers and other details.


Flag & Key Requirements

By now, to attend it is expected that your character(s) have the following flags.  Listed under /key and related achievement areas.

Zone Flags: Field of Strife
  Castle Rulnavis
  Castle Tamrel
 
* Minimum to be Piggy/85'/pushed into raid: Can't piggy into the above locations.


Access to the Grandmaster's Tower
(aka The Antechamber of Drunder or South Tower)

ONLY the following quests listed below have to be completed in order to access the Grandmasters's Tower. 

Castle Rulnavis:
     
1.Defending the CastleRequires dubious faction with Castle Rulnavis to start; amiable to finish.
2.A Colossal TaskRequires kindly faction with Castle Rulnavis to start; warmly to finish.
  Katka's CauseCan be done out of order, and is required for Tactical Strike (aka Rulnavis #3)
3.Tactical StrikeThis one we do as a raid for the single quest piece drop (pre-lootable).
  (Rulnavis #3)

Castle Tamrel:
     
1.The Tamrel TrialsRequires kindly faction with Castle Tamrel.
2.A New Colonel In TownRequires warmly faction with Castle Tamrel


Quests that are NOT REQUIRED:

The following quests ARE NOT REQUIRED unless you are going for the Savior of the Plane of War (Mercenary & Partisan completion) achievement and related rewards:

Rulnavis & Tamrel Faction

As you've noticed, faction is tied into the progression quests to various degrees.  Allakhazam provides complete info for raising both factions.

To increase faction with Castle Rulnavis

To increase faction with Castle Tamrel

A Double Faction Potion purchased from Marketplace is optional of course, but can speed up the process as well.  The potion works for insignia turn-ins as well as mob kills.


Hunter Achievement & Rewards

Achievement window -> Planes of Power -> Hunter

Completion of this achievement consists of killing 11 named throughout the zone.  These are named we hit as a raid and have done all except Grandmaster to date.  We do plan to repeat select named and areas to try and fulfill gaps for those of you who naturally do not and/or are not able to attend every raid.

Rewards for completing the achievement are a CHOICE from the following items:

Mantle of InaschCircle of Mana IV
Rage of RolfronCircle of Power IV

Soul of the GrandmasterAUG: 50 AC + 6 Heroic STR, DEX, AGI + 150 HP + Vampiric Strike VII proc (Shield slot)



Text / Audio Triggers - Mandatory

Certain trash mobs cast a riposte effect which affects both melee and casters.  It'll turn all damage applied back at you, and it's highly recommended you heed the warning trigger when it fires or you will die basically from your own damage and waste healers time.

In addition, some named have emotes we need to respond to or we'll wipe (even in a raid).

Counterattack (riposte) effect pattern: begins to cast a spell. <Counterattack>
Action: Attack off!

The Blade named pattern: The Blade prepares an attack for those nearby.
Action: AE in 6 seconds! back away

Gyrup named pattern: a charging bloodtusk charges toward {S}!
Action: kite the charger!

Kijarl named pattern1: Kijarl begins to absorb all damage.
Timer overlay: Next absorb inc, 50s.

Kijarl named pattern2: Kijarl begins to absorb all damage
Action: Stop DPS

More triggers:

Slave Driver Thokk:

Slave Driver Thokk coils up his whip and aims for your head. You should duck.
Slave Driver Thokk's whip passes harmlessly overhead. [10s later]

The Barb:

You are drawn toward The Barb. [Archer's Draw]

Archer's Draw is buggy, and if you aren't close enough, will not draw you in. Since The Barb's HPs lock if people fail to follow the push mechanics, when you get Archer's Draw you should move in close. Minimizing pet use on this mob seems to help keep his HP from locking (its possible his emote is hitting pets).

Kijarl, Arcanist of Rulnavis:

Kijarl begins to absorb all damage.
Kijarl performs an exceptional heal! [12s later, absorb phase has ended & resume dps]

Commander Inasch Prae`va:

Spawns "a mind-sustained vicar" (spell and melee resistant, these cast a 75k nuke and cleric PoWar spells) at certain health percentages. An unknown mechanic can kill them instantly. Not 100% sure on this but I think Inasch absorbs spells and uses them to heal himself (for at least part of his life). When we fought him, he cast over 4000 spells (Unknown), all directly after and in proportion to the non-melee hits he received.

Rulnavis & Tamrel Faction

As you've noticed, faction is tied into the progression quests to various degrees.  Allakhazam provides complete info for raising both factions.

Just to clarify the Double Faction Potion works for insignia hand ins as well as mob kills.

Progression Update

We've done Tactical Strike (Rulnavis #3) as a raid multiple times now for a slew of players.  Going forward however, it's probably best we focus on players who are actively working on their Antechamber access and therefore are at the proper stage to utilize the quest drop.  Therefore, players who have completed the related pre-quests (Defending the Castle, A Colossal Task, Katka's Cause), and have appropriate faction to begin Tactical Strike (Rulnavis #3), and have the related Strategic Colossus and Assault Bow, please reply to this thread that you are ready for Rulnavis #3 (Tactical Strike), and the next PoWar raid, we'll hit that area and bang out your quest piece.

Antechamber Flag Update

I'm tracking everyone that has their Antechamber flag completed.  In the near future, we will be hitting the south Castle for The Grandmaster kill and completion of Hunter Achievement.

ALL players who wish to participate in the Antechamber raid must have the proper flag to enter the chamber.

I am ready to get Drelg's Message drop to complete Tactical Strike.  My faction is somewhere in warmly right now.  If it is planned to raid PoW again, my faction will increase during it.

Reminder here.  Reply when you're at Rulnavis #3 step and I'll add you to the list.  This helps us schedule a run usually after PoWar raid or something as time permits.

At this stage, we've completed every named multiple times, and our first kill of The Grandmaster last night.  The Grandmaster is an epic two group encounter, but with more players on the board it's pretty crazy.  Spoiler alert here but you have to move around as pieces on the board spawn and move like Chess pieces.  If you get hit they DT you and you cannot leave the board or you'll be DT'd.  It's a timed event as well.  On our run last night, we had a botched engage but recovered and through several deaths adjusted to the pieces moving.  True to form with most other named in the zone, the encounter is unique and has a level of difficulty.  Worth while to get flagged imo just to experience it!
