Brief Event Overview & Strategy

* Mandatory Audio/Text GTT Trigger information is available in the GTT section further down in this post.

This event involves dealing with King Xorbb (eyeball), that goes in and out of combat states as it spawns various adds and minibosses with specials and AE's in the mix.

Throughout the event King Xorbb randomly targets (shouts your name), and you MUST face away from him or you will get CHARMED!  On success, an emote lets you know.  As time goes on, the number of players targeted increases!  Eyeballs are never good news imo.

The main special to this event takes place at set intervals of King Xorbbs HP and involves the Mirrors located around the room.  Assigned players must synchronize click their Barrier Shard Crystal lenses in front of a mirror that King Xorbb randomly ports to.  Each stage requires additional players to repeat this action.

If the Mirror team is successful in their clicks, it drops King Xorbbs reflect shield.  If they fail, the Reflective Lens buff remains on and immunity to spells.


ADD DETAILS:

Every 3 to 4 minutes Xorbb stops attacking and spawns 4 to 12 adds of various types.  Each interval, the adds increase, starting at four, then eight, and finally 12.

Assist MAs as we kill: Flamenerve Goblins first, then Minotaurs, Mushrooms, Weakminded Goblins

Mob Type   Details & Tactics
Goblins Weakminded = Charmable (but avoid doing for now please)
  Flamenerve = Immune to Mez, Charm, Stuns
  Flamenerves cast a VIRAL 20k DoT (35' range).  Curse Cures.  Goblin Fire
Viral Goblin Flame pattern effect: You are set on fire.
 
Mushrooms Rootable.  Rangers please punt and vinelash out of basecamp
  until MA gets to them.
   
Minotaurs Immune to CC.  Tank outside our basecamp (knockback interrupts healers)
Thunderground: 49k PBAE DD + Knockback

Adds & Timing

A delegated player will be assigned to do /rs calls for the following stages in order to control our DPS and help avoid adds spawning at the same time each miniboss does.

Adds spawn every 2 minutes 35 seconds approximately.  Timer overlay included with add spawn trigger that everyone will use.


If you're delegated to /rs call, please work the following stages as outlined below:

At 67% HOLD/STOP DPS on King Xorbb.

Wait for the set of adds.  Kill, then take King Xorbb down to 65% to spawn the The Proudheart Shell.

At 47% - Call HOLD/STOP DPS on King Xorbb

Wait for the set of adds.  Kill, then take King Xorbb down to 45% to spawn the Soul Stealer.

At 37% - Call HOLD/STOP DPS on King Xorbb

Wait for the set of adds.  Kill adds, then take King Xorbb down to 35% to spawn the two Soul Gazers.

At 27% - Call HOLD/STOP DPS on King Xorbb

Wait for the set of adds.  Kill adds, then take King Xorbb down to 25% to spawn Soul Stealer + Brantun the Corrupted.

Melee DPS on Branton the Corrupted

Barrier Shard Crystal Groups

Lead: Ssark
Backups: Dimbly, Minisca

Two groups (Group X-Y) will be assigned Barrier Shard Crystal Duty.  As mentioned above, every so often King Xorbb will go non-combat, spawn adds, and then wander off behind a lens.  (Lenses are positioned around the walls of the room.)  At first, only Group X will be needed; at lower health numbers, both Group X and Y will be needed to repel Xorbb's beam.

 These two groups:
  • Join the channel flshards:shards.
  • Help kill adds as normal.
  • Loot a Barrier Shard Crystal from the adds.  Once you have a crystal, locate King Xorbb behind a lens.  DO NOT WAIT FOR ALL ADDS TO BE DEAD to move to XORBB.  Position yourself on the other side of the lens from King Xorbb and wait.
  • King Xorbb will then emote he's about to fire his beam "chooses a lens from which to fire".  (Trigger file below.)  At that moment, characters will click their Barrier Shard Crystal which provides a short lasting buff.
  • If enough characters have the buff when Xorbb fires the beam, it rebounds back on him and wrecks his damage shield for 90-120 seconds.  Hurrah!
  • Return to the raid area.  Loot any adds, there will be extras with Crystals for the next round.

Main Tank - King Xorbb Directional Triggers

King Xorbb does a series of directional AEs.  Directions can be up to three at once.

Tank with King Xorbb facing the raid.  When the trigger fires, react based on the text overlay and turn Xorbb accordingly.

Note: The way I setup the trigger, it'll only pickup patterns with FORWARD.  Which is why I want you to tank Xorbb facing the raid always until the trigger fires.  When a forward occurs; read the text popup and decide whether to turn it one way or another or flip it.  When the overlay goes away, the AE has happened, and you turn Xorbb back to face the raid.  Rinse/repeat.

Examples:

Event Adjusts

Sized up King Xorbb Satudray, with encouraging results.  Some changes going forward outlined below.
  • Adjusted raid basecamp position to avoid mirror AEs hitting us last run.
  • Tanks - Minotaurs DD + knockback AE (50' range), please tank them outside our basecamp.  Healers are getting interrupted otherwise.
  • CC - Flamenerve goblins confirmed as immune to mez, stun and charm (Thanks Landaru for testing)
  • CC - Weakminded goblins mezzable (if not, please say).  Can lock down temporarily as raid kills Flamenerves first
  • MAs - Changed Kill Order for adds to: Flamenerve Goblins first, then Minotaurs, Mushrooms, Weakminded Goblins
  • MAs note: Soul Stealers at 45% and 25% do not show up on ETW.
  • Trigger Adjusted for Viral, changed from run away to Paladins Splash, Healers RC AA, Group Heal w/Cure
  • Trigger Fixed Add spawn pattern was incorrect.  Added a timer overlay to indicate when next set will occur
  • Trigger Added for King Xorbb Directional AEs for MAIN TANK usage only.
  • Delegated /rs caller for DPS HOLD at set King Xorbb HP %'s to avoid adds in conjunction with minibosses

IMPORTANT: Delete ALL Xorbb 3 triggers before you import the new set.  We're starting fresh, to avoid confusion/tediousness.

Is there a specific set amount of time between the time the adds spawn and the shard's need to be clicked?  It seems like the shard clickers have to run to the lenses right away to be prepared to click, when that is a lot of dps waiting at the lens and not available to help with adds.  If there is a known set amount of time, we would know when we have to hustle over to click, and in the meantime could help kill adds.  Just a thought since we had trouble last night getting the adds down fast enough.

The timer is included in the base trigger set already.  However, there is some drift, and it could be off by 20-30 seconds.

Ok.  I have been noticing a lot of people hanging onto certain mobs when the call was for them to go to other mobs.  Sometimes half the raid has been staying on soulstealers when the goblins and minos are attacking and I have seen people staying on Xorbb when the call is going out to stop dpsing him.  Also, a few kept getting charmed by Xorbb.  Yea, I have got hit once or twice but really now, avoiding that charm is simplicity in itself.  Espcially when we are getting close to the end with all the adds, we have to avoid that charm.

Furro can't do it all himself.  We are here to get this job done and make it happen.  But if we keep being sloppy like this, it ain't happening.

I know I was jumping on a different mob at the start of the add cycle, but that was to charm the weakminded goblin.  Then I was using that pet to lay the smack down on other mobs.  I guess the mob was hitting for 20k, which seemed to help out on getting the mobs dead faster.  I think the last tiime we wiped it was because the mini mob was up when we got all the adds.

Even there, people were staying on the soul stealers while goblins and minotaurs were wiping us.  Yea, the soul stealers harm us big time by debuffing us, but nothing that a good haste from a chanter or shammy cannot fix.  Thing is, soul stealers do not kill us.  Goblins and Minotaurs do.

And staying on Xorbb when Blackbird called the pullback -- unconscionable.

This is an event where execution is key -- specially if we have a lot of boxes like we seem to have right now.

I agree that execution is key.  We need really good dps, but backed off at exactly the right %'s, to control when the mini bosses appear.  Main tanks not backing off, dots that cannot be pulled off, swarm pets, people not paying attention, can all push the % of xorrb and trigger the minis during adds and wipe us.  Some attempts there was very few dots on boss at pull back times, other times it was completely loaded with dots that could push it over the % hold.  Other two things was that some people are failing the charm trigger six, eight, ten times in a row, while others are avoiding it almost every time.  Also noticed, on the off tanking of adds, there were times when one add had no tank, but at same time two-three tanks fighting over another add, we need to make sure we are all clear on how and what the add tanking assignments are.  Maybe some people are always picking a certain etw slot, while others are using a hot key such as /target mob_00x.  Last thing, if a person who gets charmed has a pack swarm pets out, they fill all open etw slots as they are now enemies, and that can throw some people off, might be best to limit those.  Since there is increasing amounts of adds and shortened dps windows toward end of event, maybe best to go full bore as much as possible till end of the event, then go for control very carefully  on last few sets of adds/minis at 25% and below.  Natural tendency is to go full dps if your close to a win and ignore mechanics, but with % based adds that can work against us.

Event Adjusts
  • Tanks - Minotaur tanks will no longer be additionally assigned an MA role.
  • Tanks - Minotaur tanks use /tar a_stalwart_minotaur0#, where # represents your assignment starting at zero
  • Tanks - Flamenerve goblin tanks use /tar a_flamenerve_goblin0#, where # represents your assignment starting at zero
  • Main Assists - Maintain priority kill order: Flamenerve goblins FIRST, always.  Then Minotaurs, then hobblefooted, and finally weakminded goblins last.
  • Added Audio/Text Triggers for DPS HOLD/Resume related calls to help increase raids overall reaction time.
  • RS Caller - Added a 67% HOLD/STOP DPS on King Xorbb.
  • Shard Clickers - Adjust to lineup in this area; burst DPS classes will be omitted (as setup allows) to better make use of their DPS at main raid.
  • Necromancers - Add 2% to every King Xorbb % call to allow for your DoTs to wear off before mark (example, 67% hold called; stop casting your DoTs at 69%)

Minotaur & Flamenerve Goblin Tanks

Tanks assigned to Minotaurs and Flamenerve goblins, use /target hotkey to ensure you're each on a separate one and not  all targeting the same one via ETW (which also doesn't hold all the adds later on when we get 12x)

Minotaur = a_stalwart_minotaur
Flamenerve Goblin = a_flamenerve_goblin

Hotkey Examples:

If you're assigned FIRST in the order, you're expected to pickup a_stalwart_minotaur

/tar a_stalwart_minotaur00

For SECOND in order, you're assigned to a_stalwart_minotaur01

/tar a_stalwart_minotaur01

For THIRD in order...

Notes:

/target does not rely on line-of-sight.  The distance has greatly improved as well recently, and easily pick up a /target at 160-180 feet away.

When your minotaur isn't up, just shadow another Minotaur tank.  By shadow, I mean assist them but don't gank aggro.  You're just there in case that person dies for example and prevent the minotaur from b-lining it to the raid.
